We are currently recruiting for an exciting position as a Sybase Administrator on a freelance contract with one of HCL's clients based in London, UK:

Duration: 6-12 months + extensions chance
Location: London (Hybrid Working)
Pay Rate: Negotiable
Inside IR35

Job Role:


Manage Sybase ASE 12.5 and above, and Replication Server 12.6 and above environments.
Create and manage Devices, Databases, and Segments.
Perform regular backups of databases and logs.
Handle user account administration and access control.
Recover suspect databases and manage transaction logs.
Refresh databases in both replication and non-replication setups.
Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues and errors.
Monitor and troubleshoot Replication Server issues including thread failures, RSSD log issues, stable device overflow, and process restarts.
Resolve job failures and ensure smooth execution of database operations.
Provide on-call support for escalations and conduct root cause analyses.
Contribute to documentation, knowledge base updates, and mentoring of junior staff.
Maintain adherence to SLAs, compliance standards, and internal quality benchmarks.


Skills:


In-depth knowledge of Sybase ASE and Replication Server.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Experience in high-pressure, production-critical environments.
Effective multi-tasking and ability to manage parallel priorities.
Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
Excellent spoken and written English communication.
Ability to interface with stakeholders and end-users confidently.
Customer-focused approach with high accountability for service quality.

Identify the correct subgroup location, attributes and rules required to ensure products are showcased effectively online. Ensures consistency of approach in the construction and development of product selling data for the web. Liaise with internal departments to identify and resolve issues that arise from product data and hierarchy putting the Customer at the forefront. Collaborate efficiently with the Product Creation and Copy Editors teams to ensure that new products are accurately assigned the appropriate subgroups, attributes, and rules before setup, addressing and resolving any queries that arise throughout the process. Work with external suppliers to capture missing data where applicable Influences stakeholders to improve the structure of data across all product categories. Pro-actively meets deadlines and adapts to being agile with workload priorities to ensure new product launch projects are not compromised. Prioritise own workloads effectively and escalates potential issues. Required Skills & Experience You’ll need to be efficient and have strong planning skills to successfully manage many tasks at once. You’ll also have the challenge of working to tight deadlines. Experience of managing customer facing data is essential together with an understanding of how a PIM operates.
