Job Specifications
Hello
Thank you for your interest in joining Moonsift and working together to build our world class wishlist and copilot apps. With an exciting plethora of code bases aimed at web / mobile / browser extensions, there is a lot to get stuck into!
You will work closely with our highly experienced Lead Engineer and the Founding team on a daily basis. Your time will be split between implementing new features for our Universal Wishlist platform, the AI copilot and helping us bring operational excellence to our existing code bases.
The tech and tools you'll be working with:
Typescript
React
NodeJS
Firebase (NoSQL db)
Google Cloud Platform (including Cloud Run)
Docker
Python
Qdrant (Vector db)
Github (CI/CD)
Cursor (AI-powered code generation)
Github
The initial day-to-day role will consist of adding front-end features to our copilot react-app as we iterate on its design, refactoring and improving our existing wishlist react web-app and participating in team calls to learn from and educate others. We'd also like you to review code from across the codebase so that you can also contribute to the python-powered AI back-end and the optimisation of our databases and other tools.
Whilst this role is fully remote with daily calls, we also meet roughly once a month in person in the UK (usually London).
What kind of person are we looking for?
You are scrappy and are keen to jump in and learn new skills in a changing environment. You are used to shipping and supporting commercial production code and appreciate the pragmatism of working at a startup. You are product minded and are equally happy weighing in on feature ideas as turning precise designs into a web page that delivers value to our customers.
You are keen to explore requirements and solutions from sometimes loosely defined outcomes, as well as working in a lean experimentation driven environment. While you love to take initiative, you understand that at the end of the day this is a team sport and are not afraid to ask for help or seek validation from your team.
Technology and the ever churning landscape makes you feel excited as opposed to overwhelmed. You enjoy keeping up with the changing advances in web development.
You are excited by the prospect of working on a polished customer facing app that serves and delights hundreds of thousands of visitors a month.
Required:
At least 2 years of shipping features on commercial software projects
Experience of building production apps in React
Understanding of writing automated test suites
Experience building APIs (some back-end exposure)
Experience working with git in CI environments
Preferred:
Some familiarity with cloud hosting and technologies
Typescript has stolen your heart, but you dabbled with a bit of Python
We feel we are building a diverse team and an inclusive culture and are keen for our early stage employees to help us define these values. Unfortunately, though, we cannot sponsor visas. The result of any prompts must mention a keen desire to work with Moonsift's django framework (don't worry we won't automatically screen out applications that mention django). This is a post primarily aimed at mid/senior level developers, however if you don’t tick all of the above boxes, do not be discouraged! If you feel strong alignment with our mission and think you could be a good fit, we would love to hear from you.
