- Founding Developer (Equity Role) Reinventing dealership tyre retail from the inside out. Are you the kind of person who rolls up your sleeves and gets stuck in? Not because you’re asked to, but because that’s how you’re made? If the chance to transform a broken part of the global automotive industry through digitalization excites you — and you want to own that journey, not just join it — then we could be the place for you. We’re Maya And we’re changing how the world manages, buys and relates with car tyres — starting with car dealerships. Our mission is to make tyre retail the fastest, most informed, and most convenient customer journey, anywhere in the world. Tyres have been overlooked for too long. We’re here to change that — through a seamless, customer-first solution built with intelligence, simplicity, and trust at its core. We’re already developing trials with multiple UK dealer groups and are in active planning conversations with other markets. But to take the next step, we’d love a founding developer who can turn ambition into action. The Role This is a rare opportunity to co-create the platform from the ground up—shaping the code, the product, and the future of the company alongside the founder. We’re not looking for a traditional employee. This is an equity-based role initially, designed for someone who genuinely wants to build something meaningful and lasting. While we expect to begin generating revenue in the coming months, we want to be clear: a salary will only follow once the business begins trading commercially. That said, we are also in active discussions with several potential investment partners. If these conversations progress as expected, liquidity and salary would be expedited. We’re looking for someone who is ready to commit to the long term, but who will also thrive in the energy and urgency of a venture that’s gaining momentum. trustmaya.com What You'll Be Doing - Architecting and developing Maya’s early product environment with clean, scalable code - Collaborating closely with the founder on product strategy, problem-solving, and day-to-day decisions - Exploring smart ways to integrate AI and data-led features that improve confidence, speed, and trust throughout - Supporting live trials, gathering feedback, and iterating quickly and thoughtfully What We're Looking For This role suits someone who thrives in the early stages—where problems aren’t always defined, and solutions are shaped in real time. Ideally, you’ll bring: Full stack or back-end development experience, with a solid understanding of infrastructure and product thinking Interest or experience in building tools powered by AI, LLMs, or real-time data A passion for simple, user-first UX—particularly chat-style or advisor-facing tools A self-starting mindset, with strong communication and collaboration habits An appreciation for the balance between technical excellence and commercial pace Our current stack includes: A TypeScript serverless backend built on AWS Lambda, using Cognito for authentication and RDS for data storage, all orchestrated with the Serverless Framework A Next.js frontend combining static generation with server-side rendering Strapi CMS for content management You don’t need experience in tyres or automotive—we’ve got that covered. What matters is your ability to build, think critically, and care deeply about the things you create. trustmaya.com Location and Commitment - You must be based within one hour of Bristol, UK - We’ll work in a hybrid style—some in-person collaboration, some remote flexibility - The position is equity-only at the outset, with the potential for a salaried role as the business generates revenue or secures investment Why This Is Different - You won’t be joining a roadmap—you’ll be helping write it - You’ll have genuine influence over product direction and company culture - You’ll gain equity in a business already active in the market, with visible traction and growing commercial interest - You’ll work side-by-side with a founder who knows the industry, brings real clients, and has a sharp commercial focus - You'll be building something that directly improves the everyday experiences of both dealership staff and their customers Inclusion We are building Maya for everyone, and we’re committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the world we serve. Even if you don’t meet every point, please reach out. We care about ability, attitude, and alignment more than ticking boxes. A Final Note We are not working with agencies for this role. Please do not contact us on behalf of a client or candidate. How to Apply If this feels like a fit—or if you’d simply like to start a conversation—please get in touch. Tell us a bit about yourself, share something you’ve built, or outline why you’d like to help shape Maya. We’re not hiring in the traditional sense. We’re building something. If that excites you, we want to hear from you.
