The Senior UI/UX Engineer is responsible for designing and developing user interfaces that provide an exceptional user experience. They combine skills in design and front-end development to create visually appealing, intuitive, and functional digital products. This role requires a deep understanding of user-centred design principles, as well as technical expertise in front-end technologies.

Role

As a Senior UI/UX Engineer, you will have a diverse and varied role. Here are just some of the things you’ll be getting involved with:

Design and develop user interfaces for web, mobile and desktop applications
Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand user requirements and translate them into effective design solutions
Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to inform design decisions
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
Implement responsive and accessible designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Ensure consistency and adherence to design standards and guidelines
Continuously iterate on designs based on user feedback and analytics
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in UI/UX design

As a Senior UI/UX Engineer, there are several credentials and attributes which would be advantageous, but a determined attitude and willingness to learn, are equally important.

Education to Degree level or higher in related field; or in lieu of education, the equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
Proven experience as a UI/UX Engineer or similar role
Strong portfolio showcasing your design and development skills
Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, and others
Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Experience with responsive design and mobile-first development
Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience with front-end frameworks like React or Angular
Familiarity with version control systems like Git and DevOps
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices
Experience with user research and usability testing

The Where and When

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) based in our Milton Keynes office. Since March 2020, we have operated a flexible, hybrid approach to working and will continue to do this moving forward. We will work with you to find the best mix of office and home working that suits your life and the needs of the team.

You will report into the Engineering Manager who is also based in Milton Keynes. There are other regional teams based in the US, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand that you may work closely with, too.
