Job Specifications

How much of your work relates to what you most enjoy about software engineering?
According to most software engineers I speak to, the fun bit is getting a problem and then, through a creative process, crafting a solution that solves that problem.
It is that creative bit that hooks most people in the first place and keeps the work enjoyable even after many years.
From many interviews, I have also learnt that engineers find this especially fulfilling if the result is real people using the software to solve the problem for themselves.
Sadly, so much of commercial software engineering offers neither of these things.
Solutions are often dictated further upstream and engineers are not involved in the “ideation” phase. Lots of code never sees the light of day as smaller businesses fail to find market fit and larger organisations shelve projects despite hours of engineering effort.
If you are a front-end leaning Full Stack Engineer and are currently feeling unstretched and underutilised and tired of working on things nobody will use, drop me a line.
I have some work for you that offers complex problems that you can own completely, while building software already in the hands of real customers. The business in question has also just signed a partnership deal with Spotify that will put it in the hands of many more.
Who are they looking for?
A front-end leaning Full Stack Engineer - React + Typescript and proven experience of creating fast, beautiful and highly intuitive UI’s.
A software engineer who is realistic about the amount of work that goes into ensuring a promising start-up is not eaten by their competitors.
Someone who wants to take whole problems and come back with solutions without waiting for permission to get started.
