Menzies Distribution Solutions is looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team in Clitheroe. You will be providing a first class service to a Menzies Customer by delivering their products and unloading with a Moffett.

On the days where there isn’t a run, you will be working in the yard performing shunt duties such as pulling trailers up from our customer sites, opening and closing curtains, moving stillages and trailers around the yard as needed although this list is not exhaustive. This is not your average depot to destination driving job, it is multi drop deliveries, loading and unloading through use of a moffett and an element of handballing so this role would suit someone who is not afraid to go the extra mile and enjoys a bit of variety in their day.

The Details

Monday to Friday

£38,804.35 Per Annum / £15.50 Per Hour

06:00-16:45 / 48 Hours Per Week

Monthly Pay

No Bank holiday or Christmas working currently required

Moffett Licence (Licence & experience desirable but not essential as full moffett training will be given)

Start times will differ depending on what is required. The earliest start time could be 04:00 & if Shunting start time between 06:00 or 07:00

Shunting And Driving Duties

General driving duties, observing current legal and best practice delivering and collection to/from our customer’s premises or other MDS locations.

Delivering product on behalf of MDS and their customer

Use of electronic P.O.D and up to date technology (full training will be given to ensure best practice)

Assisting with loading and unloading

Moffett driving (training will be given)

Types of vehicles range from van, rigid to class 1

Opening and closing curtains

Vehicle repairs

Strapping/ transhipping loads

Maintaining housekeeping standards

Reporting H&S issues

Liaising with the customer loading team

HGV Driver Requirements

A full UK C+E licence (essential)

12 months previous class 1 driving experience (desirable)

Excellent driving skills

No more than 6 points on your licence

No Previous Disqualifications (DD,TT,DR,CD,IN)

‘Right To Work’ in the UK

Good knowledge of drivers hours and WTD regulations

Moffett licence desirable but full training will be given
