Job Description
About The Climate Data Steering Committee (CDSC) The Climate Data Steering Committee was established in June 2022 by French President Emmanuel Macron and UN Special Envoy Michael Bloomberg to improve access to global climate transition data. The CDSC set out a blueprint for the development of a Net-Zero Data Public Utility (NZDPU) as a global, centralized, open repository for private sector climate transition-related data, that is freely available to all stakeholders helping to accelerate efforts to direct capital to low- or zero-carbon investments. The CDSC oversees the development of the NZDPU and more generally works to maximize the standardisation and availability of the core corporate-level climate data. About The Role We are looking for an experienced Secretariat Lead to deliver the Secretariat’s work, reporting to the Managing Director. The role will entail managing governance, and secretariat processes and related-policy work and external engagement, in close collaboration with the NZDPU team which is responsible for delivering the Utility. This would include supporting the Chair of the CDSC or Managing Director in their external engagement as well as directly representing the CDSC; Oversee the work of a CDSC Secretariat Associate who would support you across the portfolio of work and also work very closely and effectively with the wider NZDPU team which is working to deliver the NZDPU itself. Expectations A track record of being a thought leader on technical financial sector policy issues – ideally including data and disclosure frameworks - with 8-10 years’ experience in either relevant public policymaking or private data preparer/user roles but with extensive experience of effective policymaker engagement; A track record of game changing engagement on complex policy issues to understand and reconcile the perspectives of a diverse set of stakeholders across some combination of international organisations and technical bodies, national policymakers, financial institutions and the voluntary sector; Experience managing governance structures and secretariat functions for complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with international public sector participation; A demonstrated ability to plan and deliver thorough policy-based work underpinned by high quality and at times technical analysis; Excellent written and verbal communication skills such that you can discuss policy and technical data issues with a broad set of internal and external stakeholders; Management experience and a strong team player committed to working constructively and effectively with colleagues internally and externally to progress this important agenda.
