Seasonal Research Assistant (Summer Internship)
Location: Kent

We are seeking to recruit a dedicated Seasonal Research Assistant (SRA) to join our strawberry breeding programme at our Kent site. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in horticultural research while honing professional skills in teamwork, time management, and practical problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the crossing programme, including pollination, fruit collection, and seed extraction.
Collect and process leaf samples from the field, glasshouse, and laboratory.
Conduct fruit evaluations, including twice-weekly assessments of harvested fruit.
Perform post-harvest assessments of fruit.
Collect and record data from field and glasshouse-based trials and experiments.
Support laboratory activities, including media preparation and maintenance of micropropagated material.
Perform plant propagation in field, polytunnel, and glasshouse environments.
Accurately input data into software packages.

About You:
Essential Requirements:
A keen interest in horticulture or plant sciences and a willingness to learn.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow protocols and instructions meticulously.
Enthusiasm, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Desirable Requirements:
Possession of a full UK driving licence.
