The purpose of this job

As a Solution Architect you will support solution development by providing, communicating and evolving the broader technology and architectural view of the solution. You will be responsible for a number of Technical Architects who, in our SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) model, operate mainly in the context of the Agile release Train (ART), where they work with Agile Teams and provide technical enablement concerning subsystems and capability areas for an ART.

As Solution Architect you will provide technical leadership for the evolving architectural capabilities of the entire solution in the context of a Solution Train. Your role will involve close collaboration with business stakeholders, teams, customers, suppliers, and third-party stakeholders in defining the technology infrastructure, decomposing solutions, and systems into components and subsystems, and defining and managing their interfaces and APIs. While providing a general view of solution architecture, the Solution Architect enables those who implement value by empowering them to make local decisions, allowing faster flow of work and better economics.

Job Description

Accountabilities (What you will DO)

Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of the solution and exploration of solution alternatives
Proactively take ownership of problems ensuring they are dealt with efficiently or escalated to the right people
Enable the Continuous Delivery Pipeline through appropriate design guidelines and investment advocacy
Actively participate in the Continuous Exploration process as part of the Continuous Delivery Pipeline, especially with enabler Epics
Define subsystems and their interfaces, allocate responsibilities to subsystems, understand solution deployment, and communicate requirements for interactions with solution context
Work with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to establish high-level solution intent, and the solution intent information models and documentation requirements
Establish critical NFRs for the solution and participate in the definition of others
Operate within an economic framework when analyzing the impact of design decisions
Work with portfolio stakeholders, notably the Enterprise Architect, to develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of enabler epics
Work cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders: Product Management, QA, Security, IG, various product lines, or business units to drive forward results
Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning and Pre- and Post-PI Planning, System and Solution Demos, and Inspect and Adapt(I&A) events
Define, explore, and support the implementation of enablers to evolve solution intent, working directly with Agile teams to implement them
Plan and develop the Architectural Runway in support of new business Features and Capabilities
Work with Product and Solution Management to determine the capacity allocation for enablement work
Adopt a thorough understanding of our customer settings and how this applies to building high quality healthcare products
Support technology/engineering aspects of program and solution Kanbans
Provide oversight and foster Built-In Quality and Team and Technical Agility
Proactively reinforce, apply, and inform our architectural strategy, practices and standards
Line manages a small number of Technical Architects

Knowledge, Skills And Experience (What You Will KNOW)

Expert in Solution Architecture with a high level of experience defining and successfully delivering highly scalable and secure architectures
Excellent communication skills. The ability to talk about all things architectural in an appropriate way to the particular audience you are addressing
The ability to see the bigger picture and manage a holistic approach to architectural design rather than a project focused approach
A customer-centric mindset to ensure that the needs of the users are first and foremost when making architectural choices
Experience of working at the “coal face” of an organisation. Gaining an insight from a customer/user/business perspective and bringing that experience into your designs
Understand how to manage technical requirements and translate into architectural solutions with the ability to handle changing business priorities or urgency
Broad operational knowledge in 21st Century IT (Cloud, Social, Mobility, IoT, Big Data…)
Expert level design and architectural skills with knowledge on Architecture Best Practices and Patterns (Microservices, CQRS, Event Sourcing, Domain-Driven Design, Design thinking etc.)
Experience working cohesively within a team of architects and accept input on your projects and contribute to others
Have the skills and experience to work on complicated and unknown problems under pressure (e.g. debugging complex production issues at speed, or leading the resolution of major incidents)

About You We're looking for someone with excellent analytical skills, a strong understanding of IT and systems (especially Microsoft Office), and top-notch interpersonal skills.
