Location: London/Hybrid

We are supporting an exciting strategy and technology consultancy looking to bring on a freelance GCP Data Architect for data platform transformation in a big FMCG/CPG multinational. The role focuses on coordinating and optimising the delivery of data-driven insights while advancing AI capabilities. You’ll be dealing with several senior stakeholders with different motivations, so strong soft skills is imperative.

Tasks

Design and deliver end-to-end data and analytics solution architectures from concept to implementation on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support advanced analytics and machine learning use cases

Ensure alignment with industry-standard data architecture principles, standards, and best practices, and drive their integration with other domains

Lead the design, sizing, provisioning, and configuration of GCP environments and core services including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Storage

Provide mentorship and technical guidance on GCP-based data architecture to engineering, analytics, and business teams

Review and validate solution architectures to ensure appropriate technology choices, optimal resource utilisation, and seamless integration across platforms


Requirements

Nice to have: Professional GCP Data Engineer certification

Nice to have: Full-time experience in a consulting environment

Proven track record delivering multiple data and analytics solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Recent hands-on experience with GCP-native tools including Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, and Data Fusion

Deep expertise in GCP data warehousing and analytics services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Looker

Familiar with modern data architecture concepts: Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Products, and Data Contracts, with practical experience in data mesh implementation

Strong understanding of various data modelling techniques including Relational, Star, Snowflake, and Data Vault; experienced in working with transactional, time-series, and unstructured datasets

Working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI, with experience using Vertex AI for building and training ML models

Solid grasp of cloud infrastructure and security, including IAM, VPCs, VPNs, firewall rules, GKE, and service accounts

Strong foundation in computer science/software engineering, with hands-on experience in DevOps, DataOps, and CI/CD methodologies

Practical expertise with tools such as Terraform, Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, and scripting languages like Python and Bash
