Job Description
Location: Remote (UK-based) Salary: £60 - £80k Type: Full-time | Permanent About us Praetura Group was founded to provide growing and ambitious companies the funding they need to succeed. By bringing a diverse range of financial services together, we can support businesses as they scale, and their funding requirements change. At Praetura, we know it takes more than just capital to build a great business. It takes funding on the right terms, with the support of people who’ve been there before. And that’s what we try to provide - more than money. Our Team We have our own web-based platform, developed in-house and used to manage business lending operations. The platform is built with .NET (C#) on the backend and React on the frontend, hosted in AWS and handling workflows that include external integrations, data pipelines, batch processing, and partner APIs. We're transitioning from a fully offshore model to a hybrid delivery team. As part of that, we're hiring a small group of experienced UK-based developers to take deeper ownership of delivery, quality, and technical standards. We operate in a regulated sector where security, auditability, and data integrity are non-negotiable. At the same time, we avoid unnecessary overhead — processes exist to support delivery, not get in the way. What You'll Be Doing Developing backend services in .NET (C#) for a live, production web application Designing and maintaining APIs, business logic, and batch processes Supporting internal data pipelines and working with third-party data sources Writing clean, well-tested code and participating in structured peer reviews Working alongside a dedicated React developers — this is not a front-end or full-stack role (unless you want it to be) Collaborating with our offshore development team — strong communication is essential Maintaining and improving existing code where needed — including legacy components Ensuring your work meets appropriate security, compliance, and documentation standards Participating in a weekly rotation for production monitoring during normal working hours Our Stack .NET Core (C#), PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) AWS (S3, RDS, OpenSearch) GraphQL & REST APIs GitLab CI/CD, Jira, Confluence DataDog for monitoring and alerting React (maintained separately by front-end developers) What We're Looking For Commercial experience delivering production systems using .NET Core Solid SQL skills and a strong grasp of API design and back-end architecture Experience with data processing, batch jobs, or similar workload-heavy systems Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment Experience working with distributed or offshore teams Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control Practical understanding of security, data protection Experience with production monitoring and troubleshooting Bonus: AWS experience, financial systems, or working with external data feeds Why This Role Matters You'll be part of a small, senior team with real influence over how the platform evolves. We're focused on long-term maintainability, secure architecture, and high-quality delivery — not quick fixes or temporary hacks. This isn't a greenfield build, but it's also not stuck in the past. There's room to modernise, improve, and leave things better than you found them. What We Offer A stable, well-run environment with meaningful work and no unnecessary layers. If you care about doing things properly — and understand the trade-offs between quality and delivery — we'd like to hear from you. This role is working remotely in the UK, although we do have office locations in Chester, Wilmslow and Blackburn which you are welcome to work from if you wish. Our Benefits Competitive salary plus discretionary yearly bonus Company pension scheme with Royal London 25 days' holiday (plus bank holidays). Your birthday off. Private Vitality healthcare for you and your immediate dependents. Enhanced family friendly policies. Financial, physical and mental wellbeing support. Death in service insurance. Cycle 2 Work scheme. Techscheme salary sacrifice (Currys PC World and Ikea).
