About The Department
The Global Pharmaceutical Product Development and Supply organization (PPDS) is within the Therapeutics development and supply (TDS) organization of Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson responsible for the development of Pharmaceutical Dosage forms with development centers located in the US, Asia, and Europe.
For the location in Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium we have an open position for a MLOps engineer.
Together with a complementary team of process engineers and formulation scientists, you will be responsible for strengthening our process and formulation capabilities for oral and parenteral solid and liquid dosage forms. The team is responsible for defining and developing predictive process models which enhance and fasten the scale up of the drug product process between different labs and production plants.
By means of data sciences and process modelling toolsets, it is our aim to fully understand the process behavior in order to deliver the best product and process at launch in an accelerated way..
You Will Be Responsible For
Join forces with our team of process engineers and play a crucial role in shaping the future of drug formulation and process development. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of activities:
Design and develop robust data pipelines and databases to efficiently process and store large datasets, facilitating advanced analytics and machine learning operations
Develop and automate ETL processes for data extraction, transformation and loading
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and ensure the integration of data systems.
Create user-friendly front-end applications for data visualizations and automatic reporting.
Develop, implement and manage machine learning models to enhance process efficiency and quality
Implement best practices for model versioning, monitoring and tracking to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Develop our process modelling toolbox of the future by leveraging your expertise in AI/ML and identify opportunities for the continued optimization of our predictive process models
Share your expertise with your colleagues and communicate in a clear way with your stakeholders to share your results and innovative ideas
Qualifications / Requirements
PhD or Master in data sciences, computer sciences, engineering or related field with 4+ years' experience.
Proven experience in MLOps or similar roles within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare sectors.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R or Matlab with a focus on data manipulation and ML frameworks (e.g. Tensorflow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) for model deployment
Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, model evaluation, preferably in the context of process development
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
The candidate is required to possess effective oral and written communication skills in English.
The position is fixed until 2026 with possibility to extend.
