We are seeking an innovative and driven Head of Engineering to join a rapidly growing start-up in the mobile and web application space. As a leader in the team, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering function and driving the development of high-impact customer-facing applications that are revolutionising the hospitality industry. The company is at the forefront of providing cutting-edge solutions and has grown rapidly, securing Series A+ funding, with an exciting future ahead.
As Head of Engineering, you will play a key role in leading engineering teams to build, optimise, and scale mobile and web applications that are central to the business's success. You will have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the engineering team, lead innovation, and help define the future of the product.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership: Lead and manage teams of up to 15 engineers, ensuring strong team cohesion and providing mentorship to foster technical excellence and growth.
Mobile & Web Application Development: Oversee the development and delivery of customer-facing mobile and web applications, leveraging technologies such as Django and Flutter to build high-quality, scalable products.
Full-Stack Leadership: Lead teams in delivering end-to-end solutions across the stack, from front-end interfaces to back-end systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Cloud Infrastructure: Guide the engineering team in the use of AWS to build and deploy scalable, secure cloud-based systems that support the company's rapidly expanding user base.
Collaboration & Strategy: Work closely with other departments, including product management, UX/UI design, and marketing, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, user-focused features that align with business goals.
Team Development & Growth: Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, helping team members reach their potential and further their careers in the tech space.
Required Skills & Experience:
Academic Excellence or Fast Career Progression: A university degree with a strong academic background, or fast progression in mobile/web app engineering.
Leadership Experience: 1+ years of experience leading teams of up to 15 engineers in the development of customer-facing mobile and web applications.
Startup or Top Tech Company Experience: 5+ years of experience working in customer-facing mobile or web applications either at a Series A+ startup or top-tier tech companies
Django/Flutter Expertise: At least 3 years of experience working with Django for backend development or Flutter for mobile and web applications.
Full-Stack Development: Minimum 1+ year of experience working across the full stack (front-end, back-end, and everything in between).
Cloud Infrastructure Experience: At least 1+ year of hands-on experience with AWS for cloud-based infrastructure management.
Preferred Backgrounds:
Proven experience in fast-paced, growth-stage environments, particularly with mobile and web apps in the consumer space.
Experience with large-scale system architecture, infrastructure management, or high-traffic platforms is highly desirable.
The company offers a mostly in-office work environment with a minimum of 4 days a week in Camden, competitive salary (up to £160,000), and generous equity.
