Ambient Works is redefining air quality monitoring with Ambient One, a modular and portable air quality sensor designed for longevity. Following the successful completion of our Kickstarter campaign, we are now focused on delivering an exceptional experience to our backers through a robust and engaging mobile app.
Role Description
We are looking for a React Native Developer to join our team on a part-time basis (flexible arrangements available). Your primary responsibility will be to develop and optimise the Ambient One app, ensuring a great user experience, strong data visualization, and support for accessibility.
Responsibilities
Develop and optimize a React Native mobile app, with potential future expansion to the web.
Implement data visualization features (charts, graphs) to present air quality insights, aligned with our custom design.
Refine backend architecture to efficiently handle and store sensor data from IoT devices via Wi-Fi.
Enhance performance and UI/UX based on user feedback and real-world testing.
Collaborate closely with the hardware team to ensure smooth data flow between sensors and the app.
Identify and resolve bugs, conduct testing, and iterate rapidly as we prepare for product launch.
Required Skills
Experience with React Native (Expo and native modules are a plus).
Experience with backend development (database structuring, API integration).
Proficiency in data visualization libraries such as Recharts, Victory, D3.js or others.
Familiarity with MQTT, AWS IoT Core and Amplify or similar backends.
Understanding of AI/ML models for recommendations and predictive analytics.
Ability to work independently in a fast-moving startup environment.
Strong UI/UX instincts to build an intuitive and responsive app.
Bonus Skills
Experience working with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) in React Native.
Previous experience in hardware or IoT projects.
Interest in environmental tech and data-driven design.
