The role
Location: Reading- Aldermaston
Rate: £45.00 per hour (Ltd, subject to IR35 assessment confirming outside status)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Duration: 6 months
Sector: Nuclear / Defence
Clearance: SC clearance (or ability to obtain)
The opportunity
Our client is currently seeking an experienced EC&I QA Engineer to support a critical project within the Nuclear and Defence sectors. This role will focus on Quality Assurance (QA) activities, with a significant portion dedicated to Life Time Quality Record (LTQR) compilation and review, as well as project-facing activities, including inspections and tool box talks.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
80% QA Focus
Lead the preparation and review of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and supporting quality documentation.
Compile and review Life Time Quality Records (LTQRs) in collaboration with the project team.
Ensure the maintenance of quality documentation and records within the company’s Business Management System.
Monitor and review quality performance against KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Liaise with external vendors and suppliers to review their ITPs and ensure alignment with project requirements.
Provide technical QA support for the project, focusing on E&I quality requirements.
20% Project Facing:
Perform inspections, walk rounds, and deliver tool box talks on-site.
Collaborate with E&I Completions and Commissioning Engineers, Project Engineers, and Construction Operatives to ensure adherence to QA standards.
Co-ordinate with 3rd party E&I inspectors and ensure the smooth execution of inspections.
Raise Continuous Improvement Forms (CIFs) as required and liaise with the client's QA departments.
Contribute to internal and external quality auditing activities, including supplier audits.
Support and promote a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture within the workshop and on-site operations.
You will have a following qualifications and experience
Demonstrable experience in ITP and LTQR production, compilation, and review.
Strong background in Engineering and QA/QC, particularly within E&I.
Familiarity with and experience in Quality Management Systems.
Proficient in reading and understanding electrical schematics.
Knowledge of industry standards and specifications.
Strong communication skills and report writing abilities.
At least 3 years of experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., Nuclear, Oil & Gas Construction).
A relevant testing and inspection qualification (e.g., C&G 2391 Testing & Inspection).

Membership with a Professional Engineering Institute or the Chartered Quality Institute.
Current SC security clearance.
Current CSCS card.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent organisational and time management skill.
