The Role: Fullstack Engineer - Automations We’re looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join one of several teams within the Workflow Automations product area. The Automations product enables mid-sized and large businesses to operate at scale. Our product teams enable employees to set up and automate complex business processes via intuitive experiences. We build and operate platforms and services at scale that enable customers to get their HR work completed efficiently. We also operate the Document Managment platform, one of the most used features within Personio. What You'll Do: Develop High-Impact Solutions – Design and build scalable, efficient backend/frontend systems using Kotlin on the backend and React on the frontend. Full-Stack Contributions – The role is sometimes more frontend and sometimes more backend-heavy so you will regularly work between these areas. Cross-Team Collaboration – Partner with frontend and backend engineers, product managers, and other teams to align on priorities and deliver end-to-end solutions. Improve System Performance – Optimize API performance, database queries, and reduce frontend latency for high-traffic web solutions. Operational Excellence. Participation in on-call responsibilities and building alerts and monitoring that ensures ervices remain online 24/7. Proactively enhance engineering processes and incident management. What We’re Looking For: Product Engineering sensibilities. You enjoy solving customer problems through your work. You enjoy jumping between the frontend and the backend and can take features from product spec to completion. You do whatever it takes to get there and you’re not afraid to tackle new challenges. Experience at scale with the ability to stay scrappy. You have worked on high-traffic web applications and large codebases. Nevertheless, you remain scrappy in order to maximize velocity. Personio is still a young and hungry startup, and you navigate this in a balanced manner. Strong design/architecture skills. You have a solid understanding of API design, architecture, and distributed systems. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Clear, transparent and regular communication is essential for the team and its stakeholders. Comfort working with other teams. You are at ease working in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with product managers and engineers on other teams. If you do not have all the qualifications for this role, we still encourage you to apply. We believe in creating an environment where you can learn and grow as an engineer. With a positive and high accountability attitude, we’re confident you’ll fit in well.
