Are you a scriptwriter with knowledge and abilities in story-telling and creative writing? Do you have an interest in the off-road mountain biking industry and racing? If so, Play Sports Network may have the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking for a scriptwriter to join our team to plan, write and help schedule content across all our off-road channels (mountain biking, e-mountain biking and tech). You’ll be part of a team, working closely with the Presenters, Content Manager, and Production Coordinator to ensure that the channels are delivering high-quality and well-scripted content.

You’ll need to have knowledge of - or have a strong interest in developing your expertise in - the off-road mountain biking industry, as you’ll be writing and reviewing content about mountain biking. You’ll also need to have excellent writing abilities and be adept at working well with stakeholders and other colleagues.

Role & Responsibilities

Script Creation - Research, write and manage the creation of 10 indepth scripts per week to fulfill the content plans across the off-road channels.
Content Planning & Content Ideas - Develop 5 content ideas each week for a variety of content types and audiences. Research, draft and pitch content and script ideas for inclusion in each of the off-road channels content plans.
SEO/Evergreen Script Creation - Research and write 50-100 SEO/evergreen scripts across the channels for creation each year.
Content Plan Management - Take ownership and responsibility to collate and filter ideas from the wider team, flesh out ideas ready for approval.
Production Management - In collaboration with the production and the presenting team, manage your scripts from concept through to delivery ensuring they are delivered on deadline and as planned.
Quality Control - Watch every video before they go live to ensure they’re excellent and as planned. To elevate any edit concerns to the presenters and creators as required.
Market Knowledge - With an international focus, develop and maintain a high level of knowledge across all disciplines of mountain biking and electric mountain biking (EMTB).
Writing & Sub-editing - To write and sub-edit copy for a variety of channel content and marketing purposes, as required.
Other Reasonable Duties - To undertake additional tasks, such as sourcing props or writing and researching social video scripts, when required.
Maintain Brand Tone of Voice - To develop and maintain a deep understanding of each channel’s brand and tone of voice, and to adhere to these whenever scripting or communicating.

Skills And Experience

Editorial Judgement - Able to understand how content is performing and what changes need to be made to improve quality
Influencing - Communicates clearly, with professionalism and credibility, and is able to influence key stakeholders.
Mountain bike knowledge - Knowledge of the off-road scene is useful for this role.
Research skills - Ideally you’ll have worked in a role previously where you were required to research, and plan content around your findings.
Experience of making compelling, innovative content and communicating a clear editorial vision.
Good knowledge of the target audience, their needs and expectations.
Planning and organisational skills. Ability to manage several areas of work at one time, and react positively to changes in priorities.
Creative ideas - Able to support the team to develop creative ideas which work across a series and engage diverse audiences in a creative environment.
Editorial Guidelines - Able to develop a knowledge of PSN editorial guidelines and other compliance policies.
Impartiality - Understand the importance of the PSN's values of accuracy and impartiality.
