Job Specifications

About The Role

We are seeking a Principal/Founding Engineer to play a critical role in building an innovative intelligence platform focused on detecting and countering disinformation in real time.

As an early-stage team member, you’ll work closely with key stakeholders to develop the MVP and machine learning foundation, tackling complex data challenges at scale. This role requires a mix of hands-on engineering, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate the fast-paced environment of an early-stage startup.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and operation of a world-class disinformation intelligence platform.
Build scalable systems for ingesting, enriching, and analyzing vast amounts of online data.
Develop intuitive user experiences that provide both high-level insights and tactical intelligence.
Balance short-term priorities with long-term platform evolution and technical debt management.
Promote engineering best practices and a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

We value problem solvers who approach challenges from first principles rather than specific tech stacks. While our core technologies include Go (backend) and Python (ML), we prioritize experience over familiarity with specific tools.

Desired Skills & Experience

Strong background in statically typed languages (Go preferred but not required).
Experience with high-scale, data-intensive platforms handling large data ingestion rates.
Knowledge of multi-tenant web applications and experience with frontend technologies (Go + Templ + HTMX).
Proficiency in SQL (Postgres, AWS RDS/Aurora) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, Neo4J, ElasticSearch).
Experience with streaming (Benthos, Quix, Flink) and batch processing (Spark) is a plus.
Background in cybersecurity, intelligence, or financial services (KYC/AML) is beneficial but not required.

About You

We’d love to meet you if:

You thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments and enjoy building from scratch.
You’re an innovative thinker who continuously refines solutions as technology evolves.
You value collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional teamwork.
You write clean, maintainable, and self-documenting code.
You’re comfortable making design trade-offs and balancing short-term needs with long-term scalability.

What We Offer

A founding role in a high-impact company tackling a critical global problem.
Equity options as an early-stage team member.
25 days holiday + your birthday off.
Private pension contributions.
Hybrid and flexible working focused on outcomes, not hours.
Quarterly team events to foster collaboration.
