Your career

As the Chief Information Officer, you will be at the forefront of shaping and driving our technology and information strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with executive leaders to align technological innovations with key business objectives. Your team

You will lead a talented team of technology professionals, including a number of direct reports and a broader group of around 40 individuals across various teams. In addition you’ll collaborate with our executive leadership, including the Group Chairman, Chairman, and CEO, to align IT initiatives with broader business and product strategies. Your leadership will be key in shaping the culture, building a high-performing team, and mentoring future technology leaders within MHR.

Your impact

As the CIO, your role is essential in ensuring that technology remains aligned with the business's goals, drives innovation, and enables efficiency across the company. This is a pivotal position that will shape the company’s technology landscape and future success. You’ll lead transformative initiatives such as developing and implementing a robust internal data platform, embedding AI across the business for data-driven decision-making, and spearheading the Salesforce modernisation effort. You’ll be responsible for creating a future-proof technology environment that enhances scalability, security, and competitiveness in the market.

Skills

Three Bridging Fellowships will be advertised in 2025. We welcome applications from those with research interests in the broad field of medical humanities and are particularly eager to hear from applicants with expertise in race and health, neurodiversity and lived experience research. These posts are part of an exciting expansion of medical humanities at Durham funded by Wellcome. The Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities (DRP-MH) aims to empower health and wellbeing researchers from different sectors and disciplines to co-develop new and experimental approaches to tackling health challenges, including those arising at the intersections of mental health and health inequalities. The Platform seeks to expand the research capacity of the medical humanities globally through creating space for experimentation and intellectual risk-taking and enabling large-scale collaborations with community, creative, health and voluntary sector organisations. Platform researchers come from a wide range of disciplines including Literary Studies, Psychology, Modern Languages and Cultures, Philosophy, History, Sport and Exercise Science, Education and Sociology. Bridging Fellowships provide an intensive career development opportunity for three recently completed PhD graduates to publish findings from their doctoral research, expand their skills and networks, and prepare their next major research projects. Bridging Fellowships are intended to constitute a bridge between doctoral research and future careers. All Bridging Fellows will be appointed to the Institute for Medical Humanities and a suitable academic Department.
