Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced L3 Network Engineer with a strong background in Checkpoint firewalls, F5 load balancers, Proxy servers, and network security tools to join our team. This position is responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing the network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and the implementation of robust security policies. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of advanced network troubleshooting, security best practices, and extensive experience with complex network environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design, Implementation & Support:
Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Layer 2 and Layer 3 network infrastructures. Oversee the configuration and troubleshooting of Checkpoint firewalls, F5 load balancers, proxy servers, and other security tools.
Checkpoint Firewall Management & Troubleshooting:
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Checkpoint firewall appliances and security policies. Ensure the network is protected by creating, testing, and maintaining firewall rules, NAT configurations, VPNs, and access control lists.
F5 Load Balancer Optimization & Management:
Configure and maintain F5 load balancers to optimize application performance, availability, and scalability. Implement advanced load balancing features such as SSL offloading, health monitoring, and traffic distribution for high availability.
Proxy Server Administration & Security Tools Management:
Administer proxy servers for web filtering, authentication, and security. Implement security tools like IDS/IPS, antivirus software, DDoS protection, and VPN solutions to enhance network defense.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution:
Provide expert-level support for network incidents and outages. Troubleshoot complex issues with network performance, security policies, VPN configurations, and load balancing. Resolve network failures and security breaches in a timely manner.
Network Security & Policy Implementation:
Develop, implement, and enforce network security policies to protect the organization’s infrastructure from internal and external threats. Work closely with cybersecurity teams to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
Network Monitoring & Reporting:
Use network monitoring tools to track and report on network performance, uptime, and security. Generate and analyze performance reports to ensure the network infrastructure is optimized and aligned with business requirements.
Automation & Scripting:
Develop automation scripts to streamline network configurations, deployments, and troubleshooting procedures. Leverage tools like Ansible, Python, or similar automation platforms to optimize network security and performance.
Documentation & Best Practices:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, security policies, and incident reports. Share best practices and guidelines with team members to enhance efficiency and consistency.
Collaboration & Mentorship:
Collaborate with network engineers, security specialists, and IT teams to deliver end-to-end solutions for network infrastructure and security. Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on network design, security, and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in network engineering and security, including 3+ years of hands-on experience with Checkpoint firewalls, F5 load balancers, proxy servers, and other security tools.
Extensive experience with Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and network infrastructure design.
Technical Skills:
Deep expertise in Checkpoint firewall management (including policy management, VPN configuration, and advanced troubleshooting).
Proficient with F5 load balancer configuration, management, and troubleshooting (including SSL offloading, health checks, and advanced traffic management).
Strong understanding of proxy server configurations, web filtering, and security tools like IDS/IPS, antivirus, and VPNs.
Advanced knowledge of network protocols, security best practices, and the ability to manage network performance and security tools.
Experience in network automation using tools like Ansible, Python, or other scripting platforms.
Certifications:
Checkpoint Certified Security Expert (CCSE) or equivalent certification is a must.
F5 Certified Technical Specialist (F5-CTS) or equivalent is highly desirable.
Additional certifications such as CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are beneficial.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document network configurations, processes, and security policies clearly.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
Tools & Technologies:
Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios, PRTG).
Experience working with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and cloud security solutions is a plus.
