Job Description
We are seeking a talented Technical Cloud Engineer to join our innovative team. In this crucial role, you will design, build, and configure Azure projects, including builds, migrations, and modernizations, with a strong focus on Linux OS and workload deployment and management. You will have the opportunity to work hands-on while also providing leadership and best-practice guidance to our outsourced infrastructure teams. What you'll be doing:
Using your experience of cloud architecture and knowledge of the benefits and drawbacks of different methodologies to provide design leadership including development of key design decisions (KDD) and low-level designs (LLDs)
Engaging with our internal customers to consult on appropriate design and implementation approaches
Providing guidance and supervision to support project teams from formational stages (preliminary designs, estimation) and throughout the development lifecycle to ensure that infrastructure deliverables meet requirements.
Developing and proving patterns using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) & Configuration-as-Code (CaC) approaches such as Terraform and Ansible for implementation by outsource (onshore/offshore) teams to allow fail-fast exploration of best practice approaches
Taking a lead engineering role on selected projects, developing IaC and CaC to ensure automated, repeatable deployments
Enabling the achievement of operational resilience needs through resilient architecture, and the achievement of security best practices to ensure solutions are secure by design and secure in practice
Ensuring that the cloud services are built with sufficient skill and diligence to support the business’s goals in fulfilling its consumer duty
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
Direct hands-on technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure
Automation and Config as Code – Azure Automation, Ansible, PowerShell DSC
Policy-driven configuration and guardrails
Solid background in Linux server configuration and management
Experience with networking firewalls and WAFs
Experience with multiple cloud hosting models including IaaS, PaaS and CaaS
Good understanding of security and compliance frameworks
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully engage and influence senior stakeholders and a broad range of individuals across various disciplines
Some Azure and/or Linux certifications desirable
Ability to interact and lead onshore and offshore resources
