We are looking for an experienced Azure Data Engineer, who will relish the opportunity to be innovative as well as bringing new ideas that prove useful to the progression of our business, and to the benefit of our customers.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate Consulting and Professional Services experience, with a background as a Data Analyst/Engineer. Working in our Azure Data & AI Practice, you will be involved in a multitude of customer facing projects, varying from data strategy and envisioning, proof of values or outcome-based data-driven implementations. This role requires you to be able to lead solution workshops, as well as getting involved with the build and production release of data solutions on the Azure platform, for our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with the Data & AI Practice Lead or Azure Data Architects, you will support in translating customer requirements into leading edge Data & AI solutions using Azure Data platform technologies.
Understand our customers' overall data portfolio, business priorities, and success measures to design solutions using PaaS, DevOps & Advanced Application development.
Ensure all solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, and appropriate resiliency and reliability upon deployment.
Develop relationships with customer stakeholders and maintain regular communication.
Collaborate with Servent Azure Architects and Azure Engineers in developing and evolving complex end-to-end enterprise-scale solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform.
Contribute to data architecture framework, standards, and principles.
Mapping data from source to target and establishing current & future state based on business data requirements.
Design and build data integration, data quality, data mining and ETL pipelines for complex customer scenarios.
Hand solution to customer and deliver knowledge transfer.
Providing Quality Assurance, reviewing the development.
Working Knowledge of Data Modelling Tools.
Working in an agile environment.
Participate in sprint planning, estimating stories, providing proposed solutions, and identifying stories that are not ready for planning.
Maintain technical skills and knowledge of market trends and competitive insights and share these learnings with the broader technical community via User Groups and/or public events.
Create detailed documentation including solution designs, Proof-of-Value (PoV), test plans, post-deployment documentation and diagrams where required.
Carry out support and maintenance tasks on delivered solutions where required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Experience
Minimum of three years of success in: complex projects, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed data platforms required. Demonstrable experience across the following areas:
Relationship Building – a proven track record of building deep technical relationships with customers. Experience in managing various stakeholder relationships to reach consensus on solution/projects.
Problem Solving – strong problem-solving skills and ability to logically analyse and translate complex requirements into technical solutions leveraging best practices and design patterns. Has the ability to solve customer problems through cloud technologies.
Collaboration and Communication – capable of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Engineering – ability to design, build, test and deploy efficient ETL pipelines, data warehouse and real-time streaming solutions using Azure data platform technologies, ensuring successful implementation of customer projects. Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (customer stakeholders, IT management, peers etc.). Passionate about using data to drive customer business decisions.
Certified – currently holds (or on a pathway to) achieving the following Azure certifications: Azure Solutions Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Data Scientist Associate, Microsoft Fabric Analyst, Microsoft Fabric Engineer, Azure AI Engineer.
Technical Experience
Enterprise-scale technical experience with, data, cloud and hybrid infrastructures required. Experience of data migration tools is desirable. Experience and understanding of large-scale data solutions and offerings. Subject matter expertise across many of the following areas:
Detailed understanding and extensive experience with the majority of the Azure Data platform (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Purview, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Explorer).
Experience with Azure data integration technologies (e.g., Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Event Hubs, Function App, Logic App).
Continuous integration technologies (e.g. Azure DevOps, Git, Jenkins, TeamCity).
Kimball data warehousing techniques including data discovery, data modelling and ETL design.
Medallion architecture.
Strong T-SQL skills and strong experience of one of the following programming languages: Python, C#
Experience using integrated development environments (e.g. Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code).
Experience of working with Power BI including Power Query and DAX.
Working knowledge of the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
Working knowledge of the Cloud Adoption Framework and Data Landing Zones.
Software development practices: DevOps and CI/CD tool chains (i.e. Azure DevOps, GitHub).
