The Mission:
In the engineering group of THALES Belgium. The Engineering Delivery Manager is the technical project leader who coordinates all engineering activities of the projects, both internally and with subcontractors and customers.
As Engineering Delivery Manager, you are in charge of meeting costs, schedule and quality of the whole engineering delivery in the project through the organization and orchestration of all the engineering work performed on the project, considering industrial and service related constraints.
You work closely with the Product Design Authority, the Project Manager and the wider engineering team to drive the definition of development strategy, Engineering Environment (tailoring of standard Processes, Practices & Tools), progress tracking of the whole development including IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification) activities and risks and opportunities management.
Main Responsibilities:
Define the engineering delivery strategy and resource profile based on the engineering estimates to ensure the delivery of the project
define the engineering team’s work packages in terms of resources required, budgets assigned to each task, risks and assumptions on these, and the timescales to deliver within the planning and prioritization of activities required to deliver the solution to the contract schedule, costs and quality
Ensure that the system and its sub-components (hardware and software design) are designed, consistent and in line with the technical specifications and functional requirements,
day to day management of the engineering team’s activities ensuring proactive management of issues, opportunities and risks
Interface with the customer, for technical and non-technical related aspects of the solution,
Drive and report of the engineering efficiency for the project
Act as the People Manager for the engineering team on the project and provide feedback into the people manager reviews with the functional discipline leads
Profile:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering. Electronics / Telecommunication knowledge is a plus
At least 7 years of relevant experience in technical product management or project management
strong background in engineering with experience in successfully defining and leading the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering projects. They will be highly customer focused with excellent communication skills and have the ability to work in a fast-moving environment with multiple parallel objectives
Passion to learn new technologies and method, problem solving
Results-oriented, cost-conscious, proactive and self-motivated
Knowledge of AGILE Methodology and process driven
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Knowledge of French is a valuable asset
