So what’s the role?
We are seeking a highly skilled and delivery-focused PHP + Laravel Developer to join our team. The candidate will work on an internal platform critical to our business operations. The role requires expertise in Laravel, Blade, and Livewire, as well as proficiency in pure HTML and CSS for building clean and responsive UIs. Familiarity with AWS cloud services is essential.

Develop, maintain, and enhance the internal platform using PHP, Laravel, Blade, and Livewire.
Create responsive and user-friendly interfaces using pure HTML and CSS.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
Optimize application performance, debug issues, and implement effective solutions.
Integrate third-party APIs and services seamlessly into the platform.
Ensure deployment pipelines are optimized and leverage AWS cloud services effectively.
Participate in code reviews and uphold high-quality coding standards.
Deliver results within defined timelines while maintaining a strong focus on quality and business goals.

Strong experience with PHP (5+ years preferred) and Laravel framework (3+ years preferred).
Proficiency in Blade and Livewire for building interactive and dynamic UI components.
Excellent command of pure HTML and CSS, with a strong focus on responsive design.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.
Experience with AWS services (S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
Strong database management skills (MySQL).
Proficiency with version control systems (Git).
Delivery-focused mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS Elastic Beanstalk is highly valued.

- Lead Backend Software Engineer | C, C++, C#, Java, SQL | SaaS Fintech This is a great opportunity to join a well-established (26-year-old) boutique firm (circa 20 people) that provides market data and real-time information to financial firms, wealth managers and investors as essentially a Lead Backend Engineer. They are year-on-year Financial Times award winners in their space. Their products could be compared to Bloomberg / Reuters but they are a much more tight-knit team, organisation and environment. Essentially our client amalgamates a variety of data from a range of different providers and processes them to their customers to their web-based and desktop applications. They have a nice office based in Shoreditch and this role requires 1 days a week in the office for the first few months, then moving more remote. As a Software Engineer, your role will be to take charge of their backend data processes and tools, which run on both Linux and Windows systems. These collect financial data from multiple data providers and prepare the data for distribution to our products. This data includes index, shares and fund closing prices, key financial data, broker forecasts and more. These systems are written in a variety of languages including C/C++, C# & Java. SQL is also to query and write to databases. HTML/JavaScript is often used for front ends. You will become their “go to” person for any issues with this data processing pipeline and, as your knowledge grows, you will help design and write replacement tools to streamline their data processing in the future. You will be working alongside 5 other developers, a data manager and a small networking/infrastructure team.
