Job Title: Senior Engineer for Terraform and private Cloud Projects

Objective:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer with extensive experience in Terraform, VMware automation, F5 automation, Vagrant, Azure DevOps Server, and Microsoft server configuration (IIS, SQL) for enterprise IT platforms. This individual will play a crucial role in our research project aimed at proving a VMware and private cloud-based Terraform landing zone approach. The candidate must be adept at propagating a cloud-native Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) paradigm within a private cloud environment. The approach has already been defined and executed on public cloud and needs to be replicated on a private cloud environment in order to evolve towards a hybrid cloud approach. The candidate will work together with the internal integration platform architects who will determine the requirements and report to the cloud hybrid solutions infrastructure department.
Key Responsibilities:
Terraform and VMware Expertise:
Develop and manage infrastructure implementing/replicating existing leveled landing zone conceptual approach using Terraform.
Leverage VMware to create and maintain virtual environments.
Automation and Configuration:
Work with the netops department to propose and collaborate on F5 automation for efficient load balancing and traffic management.
Utilize Vagrant for developing environment definitions in order to organize the systems management and provisioning in orchestration with existing VMware setup, building forth upon the existing standards/templates.
Configure Microsoft servers, including IIS and SQL, for optimal performance and security.
Azure DevOps Server:
Employ Azure DevOps Server for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Cloud-Native Infrastructure:
Promote and implement an approach of IaaS and PaaS concepts within a private cloud.
Increase the optionality of integration and interoperability of cloud services.
Collaboration and Team Engagement:
Create clear and comprehensive documentation to secure the knowledge in a durable way.
Work closely with existing infrastructure (network and systems) teams to facilitate their participation and input.
Lead educational and didactical initiatives to empower team members and enhance their skills.
Project Realization:
Contribute to the concrete realization of the research project by demonstrating the effectiveness of the VMware and private cloud-based Terraform landing zone approach.
Drive project timelines and deliverables to achieve defined goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience with Terraform and VMware in enterprise IT environments.
Proficiency in F5 automation, Vagrant, and Azure DevOps Server.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft server configuration, including IIS and SQL.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a focus on education and team engagement.
Ability to lead and drive projects, ensuring timely and successful outcomes.
