Market Risk Business Analyst – 12-Month Contract – Hybrid (3 Days Onsite) – £750 Per Day
We are working with a leading global financial institution that provides a comprehensive range of banking, investment, and risk management services to corporate and institutional clients worldwide. Their London office is seeking a Market Risk Business Analyst to join their Global Risk Systems application development team on a 12-month contract. This role offers a hybrid work model and a competitive day rate of up to £750 (Umbrella).
Role OverviewThe Market Risk Business Analyst will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of global risk systems used across the institution. These systems support the production and analysis of market risk metrics, Basel 2.5 market risk capital requirements, and FRTB (Fundamental Review of the Trading Book) measures. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements and collaborate with the technical team to ensure successful implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with global business users to gather, analyse, and document requirements
Produce detailed functional and interface specifications
Ensure documentation aligns with company standards
Facilitate the creation of automated acceptance tests
Conduct manual testing during system integration and user acceptance testing (UAT)
Assist in defect triage during UAT
Participate in 3rd-line production support as required
Key Skills & ExperienceEssential:
Experience working on large-scale financial services IT or business change programs
Strong understanding of market risk metrics (e.g. Greeks, VaR, ES)
Familiarity with multiple asset classes (fixed income, equities, derivatives)
Proficiency in SQL for querying relational databases
Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams
Desirable:
Experience with FRTB implementation projects
Knowledge of counterparty credit risk measures
Familiarity with ActivePivot, MongoDB, MDX, or Python for scripting and data analysis
Exposure to automated acceptance testing
