£700-£800 inside IR35 Umbrella rate - negotiable
London - hybrid - 2-3 days a week in London

A major financial player is looking for an experienced Full Stack Python Engineer to play a key role in shaping AI-driven solutions across the organisation. This is a high-impact, fast-paced role for engineers who thrive in cutting-edge AI innovation, rapid iteration, and cross-functional collaboration.

You’ll work on AI-powered products and services, including an internally built AI Assistant used by thousands of employees. The role involves building scalable, high-performance solutions using Python, React, AWS/Azure, and modern engineering practices like CI/CD, TDD, and DevOps.

What You’ll Do:
Develop AI-driven features for internal applications.
Work closely with stakeholders to refine requirements.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of systems.
Improve observability, reliability, and automation in a distributed cloud environment.
Follow best practices in software engineering, security, and SDLC.

Experience we're after:
Extensive Python backend development experience.
React
Ideally, we are looking for full stack, but because there is more than one role available, we will also consider pure Python Engineers/ UI Engineers
Cloud expertise (AWS & Azure).
Experience working with senior stakeholders to refine product backlogs.
Strong grasp of distributed systems, performance, and scalability.
CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions, ADO Pipelines, Octopus Deploy).
Passion for clean code, testing (TDD), and modern software engineering practices.

Nice to haves:
AI/LLM experience (RAG, Agent frameworks).
UI/UX expertise & chat interface development.
Containerization & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Exposure to UI testing frameworks (Selenium, Playwright).

As a member of the Foods Connected Development team The Senior DevOps Engineer reports directly to our Director of Development and works to deliver high-quality cloud solutions and helps drive a strong DevOps culture. You will be responsible for the architecture, development, deployment, and operations of our cloud infrastructure. Working closely with our Development teams you will be a champion of DevOps best practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, containerization, microservice architecture, automated testing, and security. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work on automating continuous integration build and release pipelines for enterprise scale applications. Develop reporting and monitoring tools across the Foods Connected platform. Define, measure and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices. Mentor engineering and operations staff on unique cloud-based security controls, Secure Coding Practices (to include extensive documentation and training on the ‘why’) Act as a key contributor to the development of our developer and CI/CD processes to improve our developer agility and code quality Manage mission-critical cloud-based production systems; proactively take action if/when systems are down or there are interruptions in service; root cause and implement corrective actions to build long-term customer loyalty. Design applications that work concurrently with client facing solutions and services. Improve the quality and speed to market of our lifecycle of services on the platform - from design to deployment to operation and maintenance. Owning infrastructure in production, as well as designing and creating build/deploy & monitoring systems. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, and 2 years’ relevant experience. Certified Azure Expert Experience Required: To perform this job successfully, the Senior DevOps Engineer should have experience with: 3 + years in cloud technologies preferably Azure. Minimum 3+ years of experience with deployment orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, ECS, and Elastic Beanstalk. Experience working with CI/CD tools such as CircleCI or Jenkins. Minimum 2+ years of experience with Docker and Docker-Compose. Minimum 4+ years with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Chef, CloudFormation, SaltStack, Terraform). Strong Linux system administration experience. Strong programming experience in at least one language (.Net, C#, node, java, go, c/c++, ruby).
