SENIOR GO / GOLANG ENGINEER - REMOTE [ UK ONLY ] - CONTRACT
High growth payments company based in London are seeking Senior Software Engineers skilled with Go / Golang with a strong background of distributed systems design, microservices and API development.
Each dedicated product team is responsible for all aspects of what they are building, operating independently. This not only allows for fast-paced development and pivots, it facilitates passionate, close-knit teams that work closely together to achieve their goals.
Their teams work in close collaboration with their clients and their users. Many of them have experience across a wide range of industries from finance, gaming, retail, government, energy, and media to name a few.
They are looking for Senior Go / Golang Engineers to embark on the development of a brand new B2B payments infrastructure product.
You must be familiar with the entire software development lifecycle. Deep experience of Go is essential. You must be well versed in the Go / Golang ecosystem ecosystem including concurrency. (Minimum 2 years using it in production)
Experience working in start-ups or large corporations (ideally both!) is also a huge benefit. You can demonstrate a broad knowledge of available modern technologies and like to experiment with finding the best solution for specific tasks outside your core skill set.
What you’ll do:
You should be able to demonstrate prior professional experience of the following activities that you’ll do:
- Backend Go / Golang Engineering, Kubernetes
- Concurrency
- Kubernetes
- Make architectural and design decisions
- Management of large datasets
- Develop and test your code (API development)
- Apply security best practices
- Review your peer’s code (Github pull requests)
- Setup and maintain deployment pipelines (CircleCI, Github Actions) and processes
- Setup and support relevant cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure, Terraform)
- Monitor and support your applications
- Support the product owner in sizing and prioritising work
- Keep a handle on technical debt, whilst shipping new features

A major part of this role will be the new development, maintenance and upgrading of key products and software that are critical to both the company and industry. Platform solutions range from software monitoring and optimising the operations and performance of our existing power generation asset base, to tools modelling and driving the green transformation of our asset portfolio. Live projects include harnessing generative and agentic AI techniques to surface insight from our engineering systems and deliver a strong user experience for live applications, and bringing computer vision and augmented reality to how we support plant inspections and deliver services in industrial environments. As part of the placement, you’ll be working directly with software engineers, AI and ML engineers, UX and design architects and a vast array of technology and domain experts. Combined with getting a mentor and technical training, the placement will allow you to develop significantly over the course of your time with Uniper. There may also be the opportunity for international travel. Your profile To be a part of this area, you’ll need to be studying a Computer Science or closely related degree. You should have an understanding of working with web applications, full stack software engineering and agile development. Key Activities Will Include Software development of new digital solutions; Working with colleagues & teams across Uniper to create a world-class platform for our power generation and energy storage assets; Maintenance & support of live software and digital platforms; Service desk support; UX design opportunities; Working in a DevOps environment to complete bug fixes and enhancements.
