We are growing, and we want a senior technologist to join us for the next step in their career. We're creating a new position, one that blends engineering, operations, and team management.
The Role
Infrastructure & Operations Team Leads are responsible for managing a team of data centre and infrastructure specialists, and are the focal point of our operational resilience, incident response, and infrastructure lifecycle functions.
Our newly forming Infrastructure Team will own our operational and monitoring functions, as well as our global infrastructure provisioning and build processes, helping define how this team functions and provides services to teams. They will drive automation and improvements to streamline these areas. A key responsibility for the success of this role will be creating a space and culture for onboarding and enabling engineers near the beginning of their careers.
There will be some element of project and workstream management, and the position includes line management responsibilities for engineers with a range of skill sets. We expect up to a 60/40 managerial vs technical split of day-to-day activities, and we expect the mentoring and training aspect of the role to be an important part.

· Strong organizational skills - you've run operational teams before.
· Worked with Infrastructure-as-Code practices and tooling, and in a DevOps culture (Puppet, Ansible, Terraform).
· Familiar with physical infrastructure and data centres.
· Familiar with Cloud technology (AWS).
What the team does
· Business As Usual support and resolution of incidents.
· Monitoring systems to proactively prevent issues arising.
· Provisioning physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure for a wide variety of requirements.
· Pair working with Systems, Networks, and Security Specialists.
· Support, monitoring and reliability of our low latency trading platforms.
· Hardware asset management, upgrades, data centre installations, and platform migrations.

Team culture
With our "everyone can work on anything" culture, our engineers have opportunities to expand their skill set across many fields; system and platform automation, on-premises and cloud infrastructure, performance tuning, networking, CI/CD pipelines, and software testing.
We're big fans of automation and testing. We'll encourage you to think like a software engineer by applying a Test-Driven Development approach to the things we build. We think you'll find it ends up being faster, giving more time for the interesting problems.
We have 50/50 flexible working from home and in our offices. We encourage you to take half a day every week for your own learning and development, and we provide a large range of training resources and opportunities.
