As we hunt for Europe’s most inspiring and exciting startups, we take a thesis-driven approach – with a collective desire to understand how technology creates new markets and transforms existing ones. We partner early with inspiring, ambitious tech founders, who reimagine the world and shape it their way.
Position Overview
We're looking for a Full-Stack Lead Engineer to lead the architecture, development, and evolution of our technology stack. Collaborating directly with senior leadership, you will drive the integration of AI/ML solutions to transform how we leverage data. The ideal candidate will excel at automating workflows, solving complex technical challenges, and shaping the technological edge of a boutique VC firm. Our bespoke systems, built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Affinity CRM, Tray.io, and dbt, are critical to our success. Over the next year, we aim to deepen our use of data and AI to unlock strategic insights and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
Systems Development & Management
Serve as the sole engineer responsible for the entire technical infrastructure supporting investment activities.
Architect, maintain, and optimize core systems (GCP, Affinity CRM, Tray.io, dbt) to ensure accuracy, security, and reliability.
Automate workflows and integrate tools to streamline investment processes, data collection, and founder engagement.
Troubleshoot and resolve cross-stack technical issues.
Technology Innovation
Stay ahead of emerging trends in cloud engineering, AI, and automation; evaluate and onboard tools to enhance our stack.
Identify opportunities to source high-potential startups through novel datasets and technologies while automating investor workflows.
Data & AI Strategy
Design robust data pipelines to unify internal and external datasets (e.g., deal flow, lead scoring, portfolio performance, market trends).
Identify and implement AI opportunities, such as:
Advanced lead scoring and natural language processing (NLP) for deal sourcing.
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for document repositories.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with investment team to translate data insights into actionable product and technology strategies.
Train non-technical users on system capabilities and data tools.
About You
5+ years in technology-driven problem-solving, ideally in back-end engineering with exposure to front-end development and AI.
Proficiency in GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Functions) or equivalent cloud platforms.
Strong understanding of cloud architectures (microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, databases).
Skilled in Python/Node.js and modern frameworks.
Hands-on experience with CRM systems (e.g., Affinity) and workflow automation tools (e.g., Tray.io).
Familiarity with data engineering principles, ELT tools (e.g., dbt), and warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).
DevOps experience (e.g., Terraform) is a plus.
Commercial experience with applied AI, including generative AI (GenAI) tools, model fine-tuning, and backend integration.
Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities; able to simplify technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Why Join Us?
Impact: Shape the technological foundation of a growing VC firm and directly influence investment outcomes.
Innovation: Pioneer AI-driven solutions in a niche industry.
Growth: Competitive compensation (salary + equity), professional development opportunities, and ownership of a cloud-based tech stack.
Culture: Collaborative, agile environment that values creativity, ownership, and results.
