Machine Learning Engineer (Audio ML)
Are you a Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in audio classification? We are working with an innovative organisation seeking a specialist to enhance their ML capabilities in processing and analysing sound data. This is an interim role for a hands-on engineer experienced in deep learning, model deployment, and optimising audio-based ML pipelines.Key Responsibilities
Design and refine deep learning models for classifying audio signals using PyTorch
Convert trained models to ONNX for efficient multi-platform deployment
Implement and optimise preprocessing pipelines for feature extraction from WAV files
Containerise ML workflows using Docker for scalable deployment
Assess and benchmark model performance across varying audio conditions
Maintain clear documentation of methodologies, code, and deployment processes
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong Python and PyTorch skills for deep learning applications
Hands-on experience processing audio data (eg, librosa, torchaudio)
Knowledge of CNNs, Transformers, Conformers for audio-based tasks
Familiarity with ONNX model conversion and performance tuning
Experience containerising ML models with Docker
Proficiency with Git for version control
Desirable Skills
Experience in real-world audio ML tasks such as speech recognition or classification
Experience building APIs with FastAPI
Exposure to cloud ML workflows, particularly GCP
CoreML for iOS-based ML deployments
Understanding of feature extraction techniques, including MFCCs and mel spectrograms
Experience deploying ML models in production environments
Knowledge of audio augmentation techniques and model optimisation for edge devices
