Information Technology strives to provide a faster, agile, cloud-based delivery of our products and services to Northern Trust partners and clients through our engineering expertise. The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include

The Northern Trust Rotational Development Program (RDP) is designed to develop the technical skills, business acumen, and leadership abilities of early career professionals.

During the 27 month program (dependent on the track), participants will have the opportunity to perform meaningful assignments in various rotations while gaining a broader perspective, along with exposure to leadership of the different departments in their chosen career track.

Rotations are selected based on the business need as well as the RDP member’s career interests, goals, and skills.

As a Technology Rotational Associate, you will be part of a motivated and supported community, attending tech events, contributing to significant products, empowered to learn and grow. You will be connected with mentors and advisors who will guide and advocate for you.

In Technology and Software Development stream, you will develop technical and business knowledge and skills and gain exposure to leading technology stacks while you inhabit different roles within our various software development groups. To promote efficient, progressive learning, you will be supported by a community as you contribute to key IT projects and initiatives.

Skills/ Qualifications

You are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer and Electrical Engineering, Information Technology (IT), Management Information Systems, Informatics at an accredited college/university OR you have already completed a bachelor’s degree program in another area, but have completed a technology focused program with an expected graduation or completion date of December 2024 through Spring 2025
You have good verbal and written communication skills
You have proven analytical and problem-solving skills through course work, projects, and or previous internship experience
You have a strong interest in technology and innovation
Working knowledge of common programming languages (i.e., Java, C#, Javascript, Python, C/C++, Unix, SQL, etc.)

Role

The 2025, 10 week paid summer Internship Program at Northern Trust based in Canary Wharf, will offer students the opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience working in one of the most transformational industries in the market. The start date is 30th June 2025. This is a 10 week internship until 8th September 2025.

Who We’re Looking For

Our internships are for penultimate-year undergraduate students looking to gain work experience in our industry, with a view to pursuing graduate roles in 2026.

We Are On The Lookout For Students With

Eligibility to work in the UK 35 hours per week.
Available to take up a 10 week placement, commencing 30th June.

Role/Department

Northern Trust are seeking an experienced UNIX/Linux Hands-On Architect to lead the design, implementation, and road mapping of our enterprise-scale UNIX/Linux infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology and a proven track record of architecting and implementing scalable, robust, compliant and secure systems in a hybrid cloud environment.

This role requires a highly skilled professional who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise to drive the evolution of our UNIX/Linux infrastructure & Services.

Role

The Senior IT Auditor, Information Technology (IT) is responsible for conducting and documenting audit examinations throughout Northern Trust Corporation. The role is a direct report to the Associate Director, IT Audit Services, and is responsible for completing audits within the stated budget, timeframes, and in accordance with the Audit Services Department Policies and Standards. The Senior IT Auditor provides input to improve operational efficiency and/or to enhance the design or operating effectiveness of the internal control environment. The role also provides technical and auditing expertise, training, and coaching, to auditors during the audit engagement.

Principal Responsibilities

Functions in various roles on audit engagements, including leading audits and providing consulting or oversight functions based on the needs of the team
Manages and performs special projects as needed
Perform systems/applications, integrated audits and project implementation reviews
Follow up and perform validation of remediation activities to ensure audit issues are effectively resolved
Communicates with partners at all levels, across various business units
Utilizes understanding of various Corporate units and their functions to ensure operations, services, and systems have suitable audit controls in place (i.e., design of the control environment)
Evaluate technology processes and technology controls for design and operating effectiveness
Applies analytical skills to review information and determine potential control weaknesses
Develops a thorough understanding of the Northern Trust Audit Methodology and adheres to all applicable Department Standards
Completes and compiles a high quality summary of findings and recommendations for review in a concise and professional manner
Works closely with unit managers to devise specific technology related audit tests
Responsible for staying current on regulatory requirements and technological changes within the industry

Skills / Knowledge

Knowledge of audit procedures and technical security and control standards usually obtained through related work experience
Solid understanding of ITGC and related processes (e.g., Configuration Management, Vendor Management, Access and Identity Management)
Understanding of Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) controls (e.g., Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management)
Skills as needed to perform testing of application controls (e.g., BC/DR, Application Security Testing, Interface Controls)
Skills as needed to perform testing of information security and cybersecurity controls (e.g., Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, Network Security)
Analytical and organizational skills are necessary to conduct audits
Strong issue writing and workpaper documentation skills

Experience Required

Several years of auditing and systems experience
Specialized technical audit or related experience is preferred

A College or University degree is preferred and/or entry level auditing experience in a financial institution
