About The Team

The Solutions Engineering team serves as the primary technical resource and internal advocate for all Customers at HashiCorp. Through consultative engagement, we identify our Customers’ challenges and business requirements, leveraging our product expertise to propose solutions that meet their needs. As trusted technical advisors, we work closely with our Customers to help them achieve their target outcomes and realize the full value of the HashiCorp solutions they’ve implemented. This manager position will focus on a mixture of Strategic and Enterprise customers across a number of verticals within the UK&I markets.

What You’ll Do (responsibilities)

As Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering, you will lead and support a team of high-performing Solutions Engineers through all stages of the sales process, from pipeline creation to technical validation, onboarding, consumption, and renewal. You will partner closely with a Sales RVP counterpart to drive business development and sales growth within a shared territory, ensuring that your team delivers exceptional technical guidance to Customers at every stage of their journey with HashiCorp. In this role you will be expected to:

Manage and Mentor High-Performance Team: You will manage, mentor, and develop a team of Solutions Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. You will successfully demonstrate an ability to mentor and coach SEs to their full potential.
Drive Technical Strategy: You will own the technical strategy for your region and collaborate with Sales Leadership to develop pipeline and drive healthy growth across all Accounts.
Support the Customer Journey: You will engage in critical moments throughout the Customer lifecycle, providing support to your team and working cross-functionally to ensure Customers realize maximum value from the HashiCorp portfolio.
Data-Driven Improvement: You will deploy a data-driven, systems-thinking approach to improve business and operational processes.
Influence Strategic Decisions: You will influence key strategic decisions and drive critical initiatives across your region.
Communicate Regional Priorities: You will capture and elevate top priorities and key trends for your Customers to cross-functional stakeholders within HashiCorp.

What You’ll Need (minimum Qualifications)

Role Related Experience: At least 4 years in a Technical Pre-Sales role and ideally you will have been a Manager for at least 3 years over the past 5 years.
Great team player: Can provide examples of working closely with the Sales and your Extended Team (such as services, marketing and specialists), to achieve personal and team goals.
Technical Leadership: Demonstrated success in building, growing, and managing a highly-talented and motivated team with a regional scope.
Innovative and Results-Driven: You will be comfortable in a fast-moving, results-driven environment with a successful track record of defining and executing strategic and innovative projects that have had a major impact on company performance.
Technological Proficiency: Experience with DevOps methodologies and a deep understanding of current and emerging technologies such as cloud computing, distributed systems, and cluster management software.
Communication Skills: Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas on both technical and business elements effectively.
Interpersonal Skills: Engaging personal style with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a predisposition towards mentoring staff and encouraging their professional career development.
Decision-Making Ability: Self-directed with the ability to make strategic, complex, and difficult decisions at all times.
Travel: Ability to travel as needed, with domestic and occasional international travel required.

Knowledge of HashiCorp Tools: Knowledge of, and experience with, any of the tools in the HashiCorp portfolio.
Sales Process Insights and Experience: you are familiar with at least one sales process and can articulate key aspects of it and its benefits

What You’ll Do (responsibilities)

Hire within the US and Canada to grow the team with kind, collaborative, and skilled engineers.
Lean on your deep experience leading groups of teams toward a clear shared outcome.
Support the career growth and morale of a team of Engineering Managers at varying experience levels.
Provide team members and peers with clear, actionable, useful feedback.
Collaborate with Product and Design partners to prioritize and scope work, contribute to strategy, vision, and roadmap discussions, and facilitate internal and cross-team quarterly planning and estimation.
Lead efforts to triage, estimate, and plan work requests from a variety of sources.

What You’ll Need (basic Qualifications)

6 years of software engineering people management experience
2 years of experience managing managers
8 years of engineering experience
Experience leading and managing remote distributed teams
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) for working across a large organization and building relationships with diverse peers and leadership
A successful track record of facilitating the growth and learning of others
Enough technical knowledge to take in highly complex, deeply technical concepts and relay them to stakeholders in a comprehensible way
Experience navigating and managing projects spanning multiple codebases and organizations with separate ownership
Passion for fostering a positive team culture and driving innovation while maintaining a strong focus on operational reliability

$263,500—$310,000 USD

The Base Pay Range For This Role In California (excluding SF Bay Area), New York (excluding NYC), Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, Washington D.C., Or Maryland Is:

$241,500—$284,100 USD

The Base Pay Range For This Role In Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro), Illinois, Minnesota, Or Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) Is:

$219,600—$258,300 USD
