Job Description
Context

The Paris Brain Institute is dedicated to advancing the discovery of new treatments for neurological diseases by embracing cutting-edge technologies and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Its Data Analysis Core facility (DAC) supports researchers by developing innovative tools and analyses while promoting FAIR data governance. The DAC is expanding its team by hiring data managers to ensure data is handled, processed, and shared in a manner that is “as open as possible, as closed as necessary.”
Job description (mission)
We are seeking an individual to implement and support best practices in data management, with an initial emphasis on the creation and maintenance of a microscopy database using OMERO+ (Glencoe). Your primary responsibility will be to assist researchers in adopting the new OMERO+ platform while maintaining and optimizing data management practices. You will serve as a key liaison, connecting the DAC’s data management and analysis teams, the microscopy platform (ICM.Quant), and the IT department, to align the tools with researchers’ needs and the broader open science strategy.

In short, you will:

Be a central point of contact for researchers concerning data management of imaging data
Ensure adoption of best practices in data management with documentation and hands-on training
Perform daily data management tasks, including uploading and annotating data within OMERO
Manage OMERO+ application, and support further developments with developers and analysts
Participate in data management of other data modalities according to needs and abilities

Profile

Know-how
Experience in a research environment (academic or enterprise) required
Experience in the processing of biological images required
Experience in the Open Microscopy Environment (OMERO) required
Proficiency in UNIX environments (shell) required
Proficiency in R and Python desired

Knowledge
Master's degree or higher in data management, neuroscience, computer science, biology, biostatistics or related scientific or engineering field
Experience in Data Management Plans (DMPs), GDPR, French health law, data protection assessments and regulatory ethical procedures (CNIL), or a strong desire to learn
Ability to converse in English (required) and French (desired)

A passion for FAIR, open science and scientific reproducibility
Excellent organizational and project management skills (individual and team)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible and solution-oriented with the ability to communicate with researchers and staff from different backgrounds and with different needs, timetables, and understanding

Conditions
Contract duration: 1.5 years (CDD), renewable or permanent based on performance
