Marine Weather Intelligence (MWI)
About the Company
Marine Weather Intelligence (MWI) is a deep tech company that uses artificial intelligence and its expertise to improve weather routing and safety at sea. In doing so, we contribute to decarbonizing maritime transport.
MWI develops weather routing, warning and analysis tools for cargo ships, heavy lift vessels (HLVs), towing operations, superyachts, pleasure craft, offshore wind farms, oil and gas rigs and ports. These tools incorporate innovative solutions resulting from in-house R&D and collaboration with research laboratories such as Ifremer or Univerty de Bretagne Sud. We provide a dedicated solution for each market.
MWI was founded by Christian Dumard, a routing expert, and Basile Rochut, a routing expert and AI engineer. Christian has over 30 years of experience. He has worked on many towing operations, the transport of the James Webb Telescope from Los Angeles to Kourou, many racing events (The Ocean Race, Vendée Globe, Fastnet Race, Mini Transat, ...), salvage operations, weather assistance and routing for thousands of super yachts and cruising boats all over the world. He has trained the best offshore skippers and navigators (winners of the Vendée Globe, Barcelona World Race, Route du Rhum, Fastnet, Sydney Hobart, Rolex Middle Sea Race, Mini Transat, Transpac, ....).
Created in March 2023, MWI is already more than just a start-up providing marine weather forecasts and routing. We represent the future of smart, safe and responsible navigation across the globe. With innovation at our core, we are redefining how the maritime industry navigates the challenges of today and tomorrow.
