Data Scientist | Hybrid (Hatfield, 2 Days/Week) | Driving Innovation & Advanced Analytics in Logistics

As a Data Scientist (DS3), you will play a crucial role in Ocado Logistics' research focus, providing technical excellence and driving high-quality data solutions. You will be a key contributor to your team’s delivery, ensuring that our analytics capabilities support business decisions effectively.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Defining research scope, delivery approach, and ensuring high-quality outputs.
Leading data science initiatives within your area, mentoring junior team members, and shaping best practices.
Working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, validate assumptions, and define effective solutions.
Querying data using SQL and other tools, applying advanced statistical techniques, and ensuring data quality.
Developing and maintaining production-ready models, following software engineering best practices.
Communicating technical findings effectively through reports, visualizations, and presentations.
About You – Requirements to Be Considered:
Strong problem-solving skills with deep expertise in data analysis and research.
Proficiency in SQL and other data manipulation tools, with experience in statistical analysis.
Ability to design, scope, and evaluate data science projects independently.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.
A proactive and adaptable approach, with a passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

About the role
We wouldn’t be able to positively impact the way the world shops without our passionate team members - who keep our business running, our operations optimised, and our customers happy. To support this, we now have an opportunity for a Senior Planner to join the team.
As a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for using tooling provided to maintain data reporting and produce data-led actionable insights for a variety of stakeholders in the Logistics area. You will play a key role in planning and forecasting, ensuring operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
As a Senior Planner, you will:
Prepare mid-to-long-term future plans in line with forecasted demand targets and available capacities.
Monitor and track sales predictions and assess how operational constraints are affecting them.
Provide reporting and data-based decision-making support to various stakeholders in Logistics and other business areas.
Drive the improvement of selected KPIs through analysis of trends and root cause analysis.
Contribute to key cross-departmental projects, presenting results to relevant stakeholders.
Coordinate resources between various Planning functions.
Fulfil operational requests from different stakeholders.
Occasionally visit different Customer Fulfillment Centre sites across the UK.
About you – Requirements to be considered:
Excellent communication skills as the role includes daily interaction with Logistics management and other internal/external customers.
Proven experience as a Planner, ideally within a logistics function.
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills (essential).
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (essential).
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; preferred experience with QGIS, VBA, SQL.
Ability to work quickly and accurately while organizing workloads to meet deadlines.
Commercially savvy with a keen eye for detail.
Ability to collaborate with other departments in operationally critical activities (essential).

Lead the Charge in Supply Chain & Operations Planning
Be at the heart of innovation at Ocado Group, revolutionising online grocery logistics. As Planning Manager, you'll drive supply chain planning and operational efficiency by leveraging data, forecasting tools, and KPI insights to improve performance and customer availability.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong supply chain or operations management background, skilled in analytics, stakeholder influence, and Excel-based forecasting. You will collaborate with analytics and operations teams, ensuring data-driven decision-making and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Turn data into action – Transform forecasts, KPIs, and performance metrics into clear insights for operational teams.
Optimise efficiency – Track key KPIs such as efficiency drops per van, vehicle off-road (VOR) trends, and sales availability.
Drive stakeholder engagement – Work with operations and analytics teams to create buy-in and influence decision-making.
Lead a high-performing team – Manage a team of three operations managers, identifying trends and driving programs of work.
Enhance forecasting tools – Improve Excel-based forecasting and update negotiation tools for operational planning.

About the Role:
This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence at our Head Office in Hatfield twice a week.
We're looking for a passionate Demand Planner to join our team at Ocado Logistics. You'll drive the success of our product range through managing KPIs and collaborating with top suppliers. This role will give you the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment and grow alongside a team committed to excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Manage demand and forecast planning for a wide range of products.
Use data-driven insights to meet critical KPIs and optimise performance.
Build strong supplier relationships and ensure smooth operational flow.
Act as the first point of contact to resolve supply chain issues swiftly.
Collaborate with commercial teams to stay ahead of market trends.
About You:
You have experience in FMCG, supply chain, or merchandising.
Can drive demand forecasting and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communicator, organised, and adaptable under pressure.
Skilled in Excel and thrive in fast-changing environments.
