Job Title: Founding Software Engineer
Job Description: As the first hire, you will work directly with the founders to build our MVP and launch it to our first users. Your input will extend beyond just the product, you will shape our technical foundation, engineering culture and decision making processes.

As our founding engineer, you'll wear multiple hats and have end-to-end ownership of our technical infrastructure. We are working with long-standing industry giants, so you will need to be agile and client-focused.

Key Responsibilities
Build and ship our MVP, working closely with founders
Creating a great user experience that delights our customers
Make critical technical decisions about frameworks, tools, and infrastructure
Establish development workflows, testing practices, and deployment processes
Interview and help hire future engineering team members
Drive your own work-stream and product roadmaps
Work directly with our users to drive improvements in the product

Who We're Looking For
5+ years of full-stack development experience
Strong front-end expertise (JavaScript/TypeScript + modern frameworks)
Solid understanding of back-end development and infrastructure, such as Flask and Django
Experience launching products from scratch
Experience delivering products and features to a production environment
Track record of making good technical decisions under uncertainty
Comfortable with rapid iteration and changing requirements
Previous startup experience preferred

Technical Background
Expert in React/NextJS ecosystem
Strong TypeScript/JavaScript fundamentals
Experience with Node.js and Flask/Django backend frameworks
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (Azure&AWS)
Knowledge of database design and optimisation
Understanding of security best practices
Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices

Interview Process
Initial interview with CTO (remote): This will last 30 minutes and involves going through your background and telling you more about our company.
Whiteboard problem solving session (remote or on-site): This is an in-person (preferred) or onsite session where we discuss a particular challenge in applied AI product development. Your goal will be to work through the planning, feature selection and prioritisation, and edge cases of the solution.
1-2 week paid trial focused on a specific problem (remote or on-site): Depending on your availability and notice period, we bring you onboard as a full-time or part-time contractor to focus on a challenge within our business. You will be paid for your time and effort, while we evaluate if this is a good cultural fit. We scope out a problem in advance that will take 20-30 hours to complete E2E, ensuring you can fit it around other commitments.
