We run acute services from a single site: Homerton University Hospital, which has 400 beds spread across 11 adult inpatient wards, an intensive care unit, and maternity, paediatric and neonatal wards. There are three-day surgery theatres and six main operating theatres and the types of surgery performed include general surgery, trauma, orthopaedics, gynaecology, maxillofacial, urology and ear nose and throat (ENT).
Community services operate from over 60 partner sites in Hackney and the City of London,
and include sexual health, Locomotor rehabilitation services, school nursing and diabetes
eye screening. The Trust also provides continuing health care at the Mary Seacole Nursing
Home in Hoxton, east London.
A range of specialist care is offered in obstetrics and neonatology, foetal medicine, fertility,
HIV and sexual health, asthma and allergies, bariatric surgery and neurorehabilitation across
east London and beyond.

Cancer MDT tracker and team support officer
Job Description
Job Summary

The post holder will support the implementation of the NHS cancer plan and NHS cancer reform strategy through providing dedicated administrative support to multidisciplinary teams working together to provide high quality care for patients with cancer.

The post also encompasses a patient tracking role to ensure that all suspected and diagnosed cancer patients are investigated and treated in a timely fashion. There is particular focus on managing each stage in the patient's journey with particular reference to the national minimum dataset for cancer.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for managing the collation and monitoring for all cancer patients' pathways for submission to the National Cancer Waiting Times database for specific cancer patients diagnosed at HUH and ensuring all appropriate actions are taken to meet the National Cancer Waiting Times targets.

The post holder will support the MDT coordinators in the preparation of weekly multi-disciplinary meetings (MDMS) as required. This post will have a primary focus on supporting the Head and Neck Pathway and Cancer MDT Coordinator to improve performance in our Faster Diagnosis standard.

Responsibilities may include supporting that:- MDM outcomes are appropriately recorded on EPR and on Somerset Cancer Register (cancer patient database used at the Trust) immediately at MDM (live recording) or immediately after MDM.- the relevant imaging is reported and available on the PACS system and available for the meeting.- all required medical notes and imaging are available for the meeting.

Main duties of the job

Quality-assures the reported information, ensuring that there is consistency between the internal and external views

Develops - in conjunction with colleagues in Cancer Services and information services.

Identifies any data quality problems associated with pathway reporting and works with the Cancer Services management team to ensure their resolution

Represents the Trust on any network-wide or national cancer information groups

Keeps abreast of DH guidance on the recording and reporting of Cancer waiting times, cancer outcomes and services datasets, and national cancer audits and ensures that the Trust is aware of the implications of such guidance

PHE with relevant datasets to support cancer reporting, e.g. Cancer Outcomes and Services Dataset in line with national requirements Supports the information requirements of review processes and other forms of internal and external audit.

Provides MDM leads and clinical teams with tumour-group specific information

Provides advice on information issues to the Cancer Strategy and Surgical Vision teams, acting as a key liaison point

Liaises with the Somerset Cancer Information System (CIS) project team on all issues relating to information provision;

Regularly bench-mark the Trust's position for key business intelligence metrics against an agreed peer group and present the results to the senior operational management team
