Your role & work environment

As part of the development towards a “More Digital- and Data driven Bank”, ING is renewing the data management capabilities globally.

As a data analyst in Business Lending, you work on a daily basis with (cross-border) colleagues having different expertise in self-steering feature teams (squads), contributing to the objectives of the tribe Business Lending which are supporting the business overall. These objectives are challenging, as regulatory and risk requirements are strengthening, client expectations are changing and there is a continuous pressure to increase efficiency. Within this context, you contribute to the design of an efficient and customer-oriented value proposition thanks to an extensive use of data analytics, but also including products and services, harmonized when possible between Belgium and the Netherlands. You will cover several customer segments from self-employed to mid-corporates.

Your Key Responsibilities

Develop and automate Management Information reports (1) enabling the senior leaders to make appropriate decisions or (2) helping the bank to follow-up it’s compliancy against regulations or internal policies.
Translating the bank and tribe strategy to concrete initiatives within the scope of your squad
Analyzing the feasibility and the value of opportunities
Evaluating our way of working with the aim to continuously improve
Liaise with Customer Journey Experts to ensure reporting & data quality requirements are covered as from the design of the process.
Actively participating and taking initiative to improve the collaboration between different stakeholders and colleagues in other teams
Understanding and applying business principles and ensure compliancy with external regulation and internal minimum requirements

What will you do?

You work in a squad as an IT Engineer to unlock a wide range of sources to our Information Warehouse and Data Marts. Sources deliver batch but also real-time.

Modeling in the Information Warehouse is based on a 'Data Vault'-like model. Data Marts are dimensionally modeled and are accessible by end users through Cognos Analytics.

Resources and their metadata are first described by the Business in the Information Governance Catalog and are logically modeled where necessary using the IBM BDW (Banking Data Warehouse) reference model.

Your work covers the end-to-end data integration process from technical analysis to deployment and management.

ING works agile in multi-disciplinary teams (i.e. squads) based on Scrum and DevOps. As an engineer you work in a squad, but you are also part of a cross-squad expertise focused chapter. In your case, that is the Data Processing chapter.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a senior banker, you will be the primary contact point towards our clients, and will lead the origination, structuring, negotiation, execution and monitoring of transactions. Depending on experience, job level and background, the role includes a.o.:

Coverage:
Formulating client strategies and developing and maintaining close relationships with clients as the primary contact;
Identifying, originating, and structuring solutions to clients across the WB product suite in close co-operation with product specialists and the ING network;
Leading (virtual) client teams with various deal team members from ING;
Lending:
For new transactions: acting as deal captain by overseeing and providing guidance in preparing financial models and sensitivities to underpin proposed structures, term sheets. Primary responsible for the commercial and credit committee presentations, discussion with Risk Management and (negotiation of) transaction documentation agreement until transaction close;
For existing transactions: acting as deal captain on multiple existing lending transactions, and overseeing the portfolio monitoring together with the Portfolio Management team.
Achieving sector income and return targets within ING’s risk appetite while being compliant with all relevant financial and non-financial guidelines;
Continuously building knowledge on the sector and its drivers, competitors, products, and macroeconomic trends/ issues, and contributing to ING’s strategic initiatives;
We look for

A colleague with 6+yrs (for VP) or 8+yrs (for Director) working experience in a client facing role and a project and/or acquisition finance background. You have a talent for taking it on and making it happen, enthusiasm for helping others to be successful and a knack for always being a step ahead.

As an VP/Director within the Infrastructure sector team, you will also need:

Strong academic record, with relevant master’s degree in business economics, financial engineering or law
Deep understanding of the Infrastructure sector, prior working experience with in acquisition financing / project financing
A true team player with good communication skills
Entrepreneurial and commercial drive
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and in Dutch or French
