Our client, who are an international freight forwarder are looking for a Customs Clerk to join their team in Wythenshawe, UK.
As Customs Clerk, you will be tasked to co-ordinate all import and export activities in relation to all things customs related.
Job type: Permanent
Working
Hours: Monday - Friday 08.30am - 17.30pm
Salary: Up to £28,000.00
Duties and Responsibilities
To Co-ordinate Import and Export activities, conforming to HM Revenue & Customs regulations and the following governing departments & organisations using the appropriate business systems where applicable.
Liaise with Customs legal counsel to check controls and licensing requirements
Ensure all HM Revenue & Customs duty liabilities are fulfilled, minimising cost
Liaise with, customers, suppliers, necessary agents and customs authorities to address any issues/questions arising from business activities
High volumes of data entry on spreadsheets
Making customs entry amendment requests to HMRC
Any other ad hoc tasks as and when required and instructed by the Line ManagerSkills, Experience and Competencies
Working experience of Exports/Imports & Customs Compliance and regulations
Knowledge of customs requirements and formalities with particular focus on UK & EU imports
Right to work in the UK
Working knowledge of the CDS system both Imports and Exports
Knowledge of transit procedures and ETSF (Desirable but not essential)
HMRC amendment and reclaim experience

Position: Import Customs Clerk
Location: Witham
Work
Hours: Monday to Friday (09:00-17:30)
Salary: Up to £32,000 (DEO)
We are recruiting for one of the UK's leading logistics and freight companies that operate worldwide and offer a full range of services in the UK, across Europe and internationally across all trade routes.
We seek an experienced Import Customs Clerk to complement their existing team.
Key Responsibilities for Import Customs Clerk:
Create job files, and accurately enter data into customs software to submit entries promptly
To complete 75+ entries per week
Entering details onto specialised Customs software including CDS, CNS, Destin8, CTS, NES etc
Track and monitor declaration status.
Processing refunds via HMRC
Liaising with importers & (sometimes) exporters and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for import entries.
Allocating the correct licences depending on type of goods being imported.
Inform customers on import restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other Customs related matters
Signing/completion of customs documents under a Power of Attorney, on behalf of clients
Calculate and process taxes and duties to be paid by buyers of goods.
Be fully conversant with import Customs regulations, whilst keeping up to date with changes as they occur.
Liaise with Port Health, Border Force of HMRC officials in areas such as document checks, goods quarantine etc.
Arrange the release of goods from Customs-approved sites (ETSF locations) and/or port of arrival with liaison with internal colleagues on release, transport & warehousing issuesRequirements:
Previous experience working in an import customs role
Have a good understanding of customs legal requirements
A clear understanding of customs procedures
Experience of CDS, Descartes, Destin8 / CNS
Trade tariff knowledge
Knowledge of HMRC compliance and regulations
Self-motivating with the ability to organise your workload effectively
Work in a fast-paced environment ensuring clearance processes are completed in a complaint and timely manner.
