Job Description
Due to an internal secondment, we are seeking a high calibre applicant to join our Product Management team as an electrically biased Systems Engineer, initially on an FTC until February 2026. This position can be based in either London or Derby.

About the role:
As a Systems Engineer at Angel Trains, you will be responsible for sourcing and implementing innovate solutions, systems and products that will aid in the continuous development of our existing fleets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies, and your expertise will be crucial in driving innovation and supporting the development of sustainable transportation solutions.

What will you be doing?

Working with the wider Product Management department to produce appropriate business cases for the development of new products/systems in line with an overall strategy.
Evaluating existing products on the market as well as new products entering the market with the view of integrating them onto our existing assets.
Writing technical engineering change documentation, to demonstrate that proposals are safe, technically appropriate and commercially viable.
Supporting vehicle trials by ensuring that contractual documentation is in place and that technical support is provided to Fleet Engineers when required.
Developing and maintaining new relationships with customers and suppliers to implement new product workstreams. Develop marketing plans for new products/systems.
Ensuring that any safety issues for new products/systems are progressed and closed out in a timely manner.

What do we need from you?

A can-do attitude coupled with an innovative mindset.
An engineering degree or equivalent level of practical experience demonstrated.
Familiarity with high value technical engineering equipment, preferably rolling stock. This could either be from a manufacturing, maintenance or refurbishment background.
Experience of working to improve the reliability of components, processes or systems.
Experience of proactively introducing innovative systems or products onto existing assets and providing technical expertise.
Experience around contract negotiation and stakeholder management is desirable but not mandatory.
