Senior Data Protection Advisor
Job Description
Trilateral Research is recruiting for a Senior Data Protection Advisor with proven expertise and experience in relation to data protection compliance to join our Data Protection and Cyber-risk service in the United Kingdom or in the Republic of Ireland.

As part of the team, you will be exposed to some of the most interesting data protection challenges of the day, which we resolve on behalf of our varied portfolio of clients. We deliver bespoke services to public, private and third sector clients in the UK and Ireland, supranational institutions, and international organisations. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported by a network of experts in delivering services to our clients on some of the most pressing issues of the day.

Key responsibilities
Leading and delivering outsourced DPO and DPO Assist services to clients
Undertaking large scale data protection projects for International and Supranational clients, ensuring project deliverables are of a high quality and delivered on time
Independently fulfilling data protection compliance activities such as data protection impact assessments, compliance audits, gap analysis and data mapping services
Managing client relationships and engagement activities to ensure a successful delivery of service
Writing briefs for clients on relevant topic areas, including newsletter pieces and other outreach material
Driving key improvements to internal systems, processes and client services
Contributing to strategic business development tasks, including developing proposals and bids for new projects

Skills and experience
Interpersonal skills
Essential:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and clients
Proactive problem-solving and analytical skills
Adaptable with a strong attention to detail

Education and experience
Essential:
An LLM, other relevant postgraduate qualification and/or CIPP/E or other data protection or information security compliance certifications
5+ years of post-qualification experience in a data protection centred role
Experience leading assessments and risk management for complex data processing activities
Experience independently leading and managing multiple projects to successful completion
Proven experience managing and fostering positive client working relationships
Experience of business development and proposal/tender writing

Desirable:
Experience of writing newsletters and outreach materials
Experience of working in large/complex organisations
Experience of working in a consultancy environment or capacity

Knowledge and technical skills
Essential:
Thorough operational knowledge of Irish and/or UK and EU data protection legislation (including GDPR/EUDPR);
Knowledge of other privacy or compliance frameworks outside of GDPR
Proven ability to analyse legislative requirements and translate into organisational practices, solutions and accessible material
Excellent project management, presentation & reporting skills

Desirable:
Knowledge of national data protection legislation for the US or other EU countries (outside of IE)
Knowledge of the Irish Health Research Regulations
Knowledge of data protection requirements relating to registries, laboratories, biobanking, clinical processing and health research processing activities
A working knowledge of cybersecurity

Location: This position is open to candidates based in the Republic of Ireland OR the United Kingdom (remote working available with occasional site visits)
Contract type: Permanent employment contract
Start date: ASAP
Salary: Commensurate with experience
