Job title: Platform / DevOps Engineer
Role summary: Design, implement, and maintain a highly available, secure, and cost‑efficient AWS infrastructure that supports proprietary and third‑party applications. Drive automation, strengthen CI/CD pipelines, and ensure reliable operation for a remote engineering team in a financial services technology environment.
Expectations: Deliver solid infrastructure strategy and operational excellence, improve automation, reduce costs, and maintain strict security and compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Architect and document a scalable, resilient, and secure AWS infrastructure strategy.
- Monitor performance, uptime, and backup processes; lead disaster‑recovery and business continuity testing.
- Partner with developers to define application performance metrics, implement benchmarking, and generate reporting.
- Conduct regular security and infrastructure assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and coordinate remediation.
- Enhance and support existing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.) and modern deployment workflows.
- Coordinate with Group IT on integrations; manage scheduled DR/BCP tests.
- Identify and implement cost‑efficiency opportunities across the cloud environment.
Required skills:
- 5+ years of hands‑on AWS expertise (VPC, EC2, ECS, EKS, EFS, S3, Workspaces, Security Groups, CloudWatch/CloudTrail, IAM).
- Containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS/EKS) proficiency.
- Automation scripting in Python or Bash.
- CI/CD pipeline design and implementation (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; configuration management (Ansible preferred).
- Database experience with Aurora/RDS MySQL (incl. replication).
- Monitoring/logging tools (Datadog, Sumo Logic, or equivalent).
- Strong security practices: server hardening, 2FA, secure data handling.
- Networking fundamentals: routing, gateways, DNS.
Desired skills:
- Experience with CouchDB, Redis, Memcached.
- Knowledge of DR and BCP processes.
- Familiarity with PHP application stacks.
- Atlassian toolset (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence).
Required education & certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional (preferred).
- Terraform Associate (preferred).
