Rockstar Dundee is on the lookout for a talented UI Programmer (C++) who possesses a passion for creating world-class user interfaces that help form the connection between the player and our games.
This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s unique game development studio in the heart of Dundee, Scotland.
What We Do
The UI Team at Rockstar is a diverse, multinational team made up of programmers and developers from across our studios.
Working together across time zones we use our industry-leading, in-house proprietary “RAGE” engine to produce the User Interface features that form the connection between the player and our games.
We develop our own UI tools, editors and technologies to let our UI developers realise the creative vision of the projects we work on while constantly striving for excellence to produce the seamless UI experience our millions of players expect.
Responsibilities
As a UI programmer, you will work across all areas of UI code development delivering technology updates and game feature code.
Working with your lead, you will be given both feature areas you will be responsible for and sets of tasks to support other feature areas.
You will provide time estimates and technical issue forecasting for all work which you then assume full responsibility for.
Giving frequent communication updates to your lead and involving them in any discussions that arise from your tasks, you will deliver high quality, fully debugged, performant code to the time requirements agreed upon.
Working with the other UI team members, you will be asked to review other programmer’s code and must ensure your feedback means it meets the quality levels required.
Qualifications
A degree in software engineering, mathematics or computer science.
2+ years combined industry experience within AAA game development studios.
Skills
Strong C++ and low-level, high-performance coding.
Comfortable with a wide range of code design patterns including Object Orientated Programming.
Experience with XML, XAML, Json and other common file formats.
Familiarity with day to day game development tools including Bug tracking software, communication tools and version control software.
PLUSES
1+ published AAA console title.
Experience with C# and tools programming.

Rockstar Games is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Online Services Auth & Identity team, to work with critical interconnected systems and develop future-looking plans for improvements. The successful candidate will be working on .NET 8 and TypeScript solutions with an internationally established team, supporting Grand Theft Auto Online and upcoming releases. What We Do
The Rockstar Games Online Services Team is a passionate development group, focused on growing and maintaining the technology platform that powers Rockstar’s online titles and our ability to deliver world-class player experiences.
We create and maintain high-impact features for Grand Theft Auto Online, Red Dead Online, the Rockstar Games Launcher, and the Rockstar websites, as well as the core player account ecosystem.
We align technology and tools with our digital distribution platform to create solutions that enhance our games and empower various teams within Rockstar.
The Auth & Identity team collaborates with teams across Rockstar Games to provide centralized authentication, authorization, and identity systems, supporting our players across all platforms.
Responsibilities
Develop large-scale systems utilizing C#, MSSQL, and JavaScript with React.
Evaluate existing systems to identify opportunities for improvement and modernization, work with product management and engineering team members to design and implement changes.
Collaborate with other teams across our global organization to design technical solutions to meet a very high bar of security and scalability needs.
Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to help ensure all work meets best practice guidelines.
Qualifications
Minimum 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
A degree in computer science or equivalent.
As a core member of an internationally based team, you will possess excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with engineers and stakeholders.
A strong sense of ownership, with a proactive nature, and a drive to accomplish objectives and drive a team to success.
A passion for web and automation technologies and a desire to remain up to date with the latest technologies.
Skills
Expert in measuring large-scale solution KPIs using data driven approaches.
Expert in .NET and SQL for building highly performant large-scale systems.
Expert in modern JavaScript or TypeScript with experience in React.
Experience with shared code and use of source control platforms, preferably Perforce and Git.
Knowledge of Agile software development processes.

Rockstar North is on the lookout for an experienced or senior Vehicle Gameplay/AI Programmer who is passionate about developing believable vehicle mechanics and open world gameplay systems. The ideal profile will be apt at collaborating with other disciplines and unafraid to take ownership over specific systems and features.
This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s state-of-the-art game development studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.
What We Do
We create believable worlds that players can get fully immersed in.
We develop systems such as navigation, population and AI behaviours.
We work as a global AI/Gameplay team across multiple studios as well as working closely with designers.
We follow an iterative process where we tune and polish features.
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and extend current vehicle behaviour and population systems.
Prototype, design and implement new systems collaboratively with Physics, Network, Design and Engine teams to create realistic and fun vehicle mechanics.
Tackle macro and/or micro level tasks, from improving polish on specific systems to working on higher level systems that will affect the feel of the wider game world.
Focus on optimisation and performance all the while striving for more realism, believability and accuracy implementing systems with finite resources.
Work together with other disciplines to deliver features on schedule.
Qualifications
A degree in computer science, mathematics, or equivalent.
Skills
Demonstrable C/C++ programming skills.
Good math skills, knowledge of vectors, matrices and linear algebra.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
