Freelance Consultant - Operational/System Engineer (Istio on AKS)

Job Description

Location: Near Brussels, Belgium

Who We Are
Yucca is an IT consultancy with a mix of local and international experts. We value transparency, an informal work culture, and a personal, small-scale approach. We're currently looking for a Freelance Consultant to join our team for an exciting cloud project.

The Role
We're looking for an experienced Operational/System Engineer with strong expertise in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Istio Service Mesh. You'll be part of a technical team supporting the setup and optimization of a cloud platform. So, you will be joining this team as a Yucca Consultant.

What You’ll Do
Work alongside architects and engineers to set up and manage a Kubernetes-based platform.
Automate deployments and integrate applications into a shared AKS environment.
Implement and maintain Istio service mesh for seamless microservices communication.
Collaborate with external contractors to validate solutions and ensure best practices.
Support development teams in their cloud migration journey.
Train operational teams and assist in debugging and troubleshooting.

What You Bring to the Table:
5+ years of experience in system/operational engineering.
Solid understanding of Kubernetes, Istio, and Azure Cloud.
Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD tools.
Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell, Bicep).
Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.
