About the Roles:
We are seeking two highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineers to join our growing data platform team in Brussels. These roles will be instrumental in building and maintaining our modern data infrastructure, ensuring data quality, and enabling data-driven insights. We are looking for individuals with a strong background in data warehousing, ETL development, and cloud technologies, specifically within the Azure ecosystem. The ideal candidates will be comfortable working in an Agile environment and possess a passion for data and its potential to drive business value.
Responsibilities (Shared Across Both Roles):
· Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), dbt, and Databricks.
· Implement data modelling and warehousing best practices.
· Develop and execute SQL queries for data transformation, validation, and performance testing.
· Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and monitoring.
· Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
· Work closely with the development team to implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
· Contribute to the overall architecture and evolution of our data platform.
· Participate in Agile sprints and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
· Stay up to date with the latest data engineering trends and technologies.
· Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities (Specific to Data Validation & Performance Focus):
· Focus on data validation, schema validation, and data transformation testing.
· Develop and execute performance tests to ensure optimal data pipeline performance.
· Manage defects and provide comprehensive test reporting.
· Adapt to evolving ETL and cloud environments while ensuring data quality.
Responsibilities (Specific to Core Data Engineering Focus):
· Focus on data modelling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
· Build and maintain data pipelines using ADF, dbt, and Databricks.
· Develop Power BI dashboards and reports (as needed).
Essential Skills (Shared Across Both Roles):
· Strong proficiency in SQL and data warehousing concepts.
· Experience with data modelling and ETL development.
· Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, dbt, and Databricks.
· Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).

General Description:
The Chief Data Functional Analyst will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing the data strategy for a key organization within the healthcare sector. Reporting directly to the Chief Data Officer, this role involves leading a team of functional data analysts, collaborating with various internal business units, ICT, and external partners to ensure alignment on data sharing and analytical solutions. The Chief Data Functional Analyst will be a key member of the Data Office, a cross-functional, agile organization, working closely with development teams, data architects, data governance teams, and the DPO. This position requires a strong understanding of GDPR compliance and experience working with sensitive data.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Assist the CDO in developing and implementing the data strategy, contributing to the roadmap for the data program, encompassing both BI and advanced analytics (including AI), as well as the data governance program.
· Lead and mentor a team of functional data analysts, guiding them in gathering business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and collaborating effectively with project managers, data architects, and solution developers.
· Manage the Data Functional Analyst Competence Centre, establishing standards and best practices for data methodology.
· Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the business processes and data-related challenges faced by internal business units.
· Contribute to the development of the organization's conceptual data model in collaboration with the team, data architects, and business experts.
· Centralize and maintain a register of all analytical data processing, sharing it with the DPO and collaborating with legal experts to ensure the legal basis of analytical solutions.
· Collaborate with data governance teams to create and maintain metadata catalogues.
· Participate in identifying personnel needs for the Data Office and contribute to the recruitment of new talent.
· Establish and maintain relationships with other organizations in the healthcare sector.
· Specifically, liaise with relevant agencies to promote data interoperability at national and potentially international levels (common data model and repositories).
Skills:
· Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management and/or functional data analysis.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in team management within an agile environment.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience with data modelling (conceptual and logical modelling) in the context of data warehouse development (Kimball methodology).
· Proficiency with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or BI platforms like Power BI.
· Strong understanding of GDPR processes.
· Experience working with sensitive data (medical data) is a plus.
· Good knowledge of repository management and/or master data management.
· Understanding of data governance principles and metadata management is an advantage.
· Experience in change management related to implementing new initiatives and technologies.
