Summary / Role Purpose
With the emergence of cloud computing offerings, digital simulation becomes accessible to an audience that may not have the experience or infrastructure to use finite element and other simulation tools: indeed, with no hardware to configure, no license to manage, and if the tool is easy to use at low costs, it becomes within reach for a designer who would otherwise not have done a simulation.
However, remote computing introduces other constraints: the network's bandwidth means that graphics displays exchanges need to be minimized, and the permanent storage of simulation results must be reduced as in the end it is much more expensive than the calculation itself.
It is therefore useful to look at the volume of results produced by the finite element solvers, and to use numerical compression techniques on the data that the user will either download from the cloud or store at a lower cost.
The R&D Engineer contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to accomplish development objectives.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Performs basic development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of scientific software modules and sub-systems.
Learns and employs best practices.
Performs basic complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
Investigates problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.

Experience with reading scientific papers
