Java Software Engineer
Java Software Engineer is required by our client in Glasgow to join a project team to take ownership in coding, unit testing, PR review/approval, progression, and management of code through environments into production, mentoring and developing team members. As Java Software Engineer you will be instrumental in a scrum team developing and supporting services in a large-scale complex Microservices based architecture hosted completely on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
As Java Software Engineer not only will you take ownership of a complex estate, but you will also be accountable for future integrations bringing best-practise and scalability principles to ensure clean code continues to be implemented within a Test-Driven Domain (TDD) and Domain-Drive-Design (DDD). My clients software engineering approach is modern and follows workflow-based architectures, with deployment practises in a DevOps and Scrum workflow, utilising Maven and Jenkins to implement solutions across Kubernetes clusters.
Working in a hybrid working culture as Senior Java Software Engineer the expectation is that you will be onsite in Edinburgh across to three days a week.
Java Software Engineer contract profile required:
Must have at least five years’ experience developing software solutions in Java and knowledgeable in version 17.
An accomplished background writing clean code, adhering to scalability using TDD and DDD approaches.
Outside of coding that you have influenced design and architecture in previous roles.
Well-practised in DevOps deployment practises and utilising Docker and Kubernetes.
Must have a degree in Computer Science or similar qualification.

Contract: until 27th December 2024 – Strong likelihood of extension beyond this.
Salary: Up to £375 a day.

Non-Functional Test Manager – (Contract)
Non-Functional Test Manager is required by our client in London to join a project team to take ownership in driving their NFT and assurance efforts, confirm their products and services t meet the highest quality standards. The Non-Functional Test Manager requires that the non-functional testing delivered by their Service Providers is optimised to certify their systems meet performance, reliability and scalability requirements, protecting the service they provide to their customers.
The ideal Non-Functional Test Manager is a strategic thinker, with a strong technical background and proven leadership abilities, who is keen to undertake the challenge of building our organisational non-functional test capability as we mature and transition towards utilising best practice delivery models and tools.
Our Technology Assurance Function is part of my client’s Technology Office and the Non-Functional Test Manager be instrumental in Test Assurance Function (who assure the testing of changes that are made to my client’s systems and infrastructure) Working in a hybrid working culture as Non-Functional Test Manager where you are required to be onsite in a hybrid work culture across 8 days in a month.
As my client is seeking a candidate for this role permanently they are keen to hire a contractor for the next 3 months and depending on where they are on the search extend from there.
Non-Functional Test Manager contract profile required
10+ years experience in non-functional testing or test assurance roles
Extensive experience of managing a portfolio of activity across non-functional testing types including performance, capacity, load, stress, reliability, BCDR and security testing
Deep knowledge of testing tools and frameworks, including Azure DevOps, JMeter, JUnit, LoadRunner, Selenium, Postman, Virtuoso, Gremlin, WireMock, OpenShift, BitBucket etc)
Strong technical understanding of cloud environments, networks, distributed systems, micro-services, service virtualisation and modern architectures
Familiarity with AI/ML in testing, DevOps CI/CD and continuous testing practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to analyse systems performance metrics and recommend optimisations
Excellent communicator with a proven ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
Proficient at drafting and presenting technical reports and testing artefacts, pitching the level of detail to the required technical and non-technical target audiences.
Testing certification (ISTQB Advanced Technical Test Analyst, Certified Performance Tester or other relevant certification) is welcome.
Must have a degree in Computer Science or similar qualification.

We are looking for a contractor for a long term position with our client in the Financial Services sector.
You will be responsible for:
leading the effort to design, build, and configure applications, acting as the primary point of contact
You are expected to be an SME, promote collaboration and manage the team to perform
Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions
Expected to provide solutions to problems that apply across multiple teams
Expert proficiency in .NET Core is required
Expert level of proficiency in Amazon S3 is recommended
MongoDB Expert proficiency is recommended
You will be required to:
