My client is the biggest Rail organisations in the UK. We are seeking a Senior Azure Databricks Specialist to join our dynamic data engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Azure Databricks, ADF, Data Lake, SQL, and Python/PySpark, with a proven ability to build and deploy high-quality, scalable data solutions within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. You will work alongside Product Owners, Architects, and engineering leadership to create impactful data lake solutions, robust data pipelines, and reusable libraries and tools.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
Develop and implement scalable data lake solutions using Azure components, including Azure Data Factory (ADF) for ingestion, Data Lake Gen 2 and Azure SQL Server for storage, and Azure Analysis Services for data transformations.
Design and develop robust data pipelines leveraging Azure BI services for Big Data platforms.
Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Architects to ensure best practices in Azure Data Platform development.
Drive standards for software engineering within the team, ensuring high-quality, production-ready code.
Refactor code to build reusable libraries, APIs, and tools, contributing to a sustainable, scalable data infrastructure.
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Mandatory: Strong in Azure Databricks, ADF, Data Lake, Strong SQL, Pyspark/Python
Hands-on-experience in developing data lake solutions using Azure (Azure data factory for ingestion, Data lake gen 2 and Azure SQL server for storage, Azure analysis service for transformations, Azure data bricks)
Implement a robust data pipeline using Microsoft Stack.
Create reusable and scalable data pipelines.
Development and deployment of new data platforms.

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading financial services clients! They are currently looking for a skilled PostgreSQL DBA to join their team for a six-month contract.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
Must have hands on experience as Database Administration specifically with MongoDB, PostgreSQL / Oracle.
Working with database software to find ways to store, organise and manage data
Expert knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL data stores and working with a variety of structures including JSON and XML
Experience of software development with distributed data processing technologies including Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
Experience in keeping databases up to date, troubleshooting, helping with database design & development, and managing database access.
Experience in designing maintenance procedures and putting them into operation.
Liaising with programmers, applications/operational staff, IT project managers and other technical staff
Managing database security/integrity and backup procedures, implementing security measures.
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Writing reports, documentation, and operating manuals
Testing and modifying databases to ensure that they operate reliably
Writing disaster recovery plans and archiving/housekeeping data.
Knowledge of Cloud platforms, serverless architecture preferable
Good understanding of software patterns and when/how to apply them

The successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for the development of the conceptual, logical, and physical data models, the implementation of RDBMS, operational data store (ODS), data marts, and data lakes on target platforms (SQL/NoSQL).
- Oversee and govern the expansion of existing data architecture and the optimization of data query performance via best practices. The candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
Implement business and IT data requirements through new data strategies and designs across all data platforms (relational, dimensional, and NoSQL) and data tools (reporting, visualization, analytics, and machine learning).
Work with business and application/solution teams to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models
Define and govern data modelling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development for enterprise data models.
Identify the architecture, infrastructure, and interfaces to data sources, tools supporting automated data loads, security concerns, analytic models, and data visualization.
Hands-on modelling, design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, and sandbox POC.
Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.
Skills
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer/data science technical or related experience.
5+ years of hands-on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic experience (using RDBMS, dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies, and ETL and data ingestion protocols).
Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-center contexts required.
Good knowledge of metadata management, data modelling, and related tools (Erwin or ER Studio or others) required.
Experience in team management, communication, and presentation.
