In our engineering team, we build the infrastructure, interfaces, and applications to provide first-class service to our members, health professionals, and even ourselves!

Claims Management
You would join the team called “Claims Management”, in charge of refunding €350M+ of healthcare expenses every year to 1M+ members across France, Belgium, Spain, and Canada.
Our mission is to refund each member as fast as we can and the right amount, while being cost-effective for Alan.
We have internalized all the critical parts to handle health claims, which makes this product division a technical, deep, and exciting place to work.
Claims Management Contains Several Product Crews, Notably
Document processing: 2M documents received every year. We automatically parse a good portion of them with LLMs but we want to go further.
Claims experience: Building the most memorable and straightforward experience for our members to understand their guarantees and get a claim refunded. Across 4 different countries, mobile and desktop.
Payments: Building a payment infra & source ingestion system to make sure our members get refunded super fast or better, they don’t need to advance the money.
Fraud fighting: 4M€ saved in 2024 with an internal stack combining Machine learning scoring, anomaly detections, and manual investigations

We Are Looking For Engineers With 3+ Years Of Experience To Help Us Scale Our Engineering Community From Different Perspectives (product, Tech, And Internal Organization-wise)
You’ll be able to tackle high-impact & high-risk projects involving many engineers.
You’ll design efficient systems and engineering practices to align with and facilitate interactions between multiple teams/products.

The Engineering Lead job at Alan
At Alan, Engineering Leads are exceptional technical leaders who combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership to drive both team excellence and technical innovation. Our Engineering Leads are deeply involved in the strategic technical and product direction of the team, as well as the human aspects of building high-performing engineering teams.
Your Mission
As an Engineering Lead at Alan, you'll be responsible for leading one of our engineering teams, comprising 6-15 engineers and organized in autonomous and nimble crews. You'll shape the technical vision, foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and ensure your teams deliver impactful solutions while maintaining engineering excellence.
In This Role, You Will
Set and communicate a clear vision for why and what we're building, establishing high expectations and identifying key assets and opportunities.
Bring daily energy to the team, providing context and fostering mutual help to create a motivated and engaged team.
Own the engineering efficiency and excellence of your team by using productivity tools (including AI), zooming in and out depending on the needs of the team.
Challenge what's "good enough" to build and ship, while removing sources of unnecessary defocus.
Monitor team well-being and ensure psychological safety to maintain a healthy team dynamic.
Own talent density by hiring exceptional talent, supporting team members' growth and addressing performance concerns promptly.
Collaborate daily with stakeholders, product managers, designers, other engineering leads, etc.
This is the perfect role for you if you have exceptional people management skills, a great technical background and if you are passionate about building both great products and great teams. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in engineering management is required.
Platform Engineering:
You'll lead the teams building the foundation of Alan's engineering excellence. Your mission will be to help the team develop and maintain the tools (eg. Github Actions, Rspack), infrastructure, and practices that enable our entire engineering organization to move fast and reliably. You'll work closely with other engineering teams to understand their needs and build solutions that scale our technical capabilities.
